Vote for obama

You are right. Why should they have rights? Them and black people and jews and gays, they can all just go to hell. It isn't like they are human or anything.

Simple, federal programs created to put unemployed people to work. Building monuments and national parks or whatever would benefit the country in the long run. Just Like Roosevelt had in the 30's.

Bullshit!

Despite what you democrats love to think, the Keynesian view of macroeconomics is dead, stop trying to bring it back. Roosevelt loved Keynesian economics, his New Deal was an absolute failure as well as the 2nd New Deal, but he is regarded as too much of a "saint" for people to know the truth. But I'm willing to bet you've never even heard of the name Keynes before.

Read this and get educated sucker, don't believe what politicians tell you about economics.

I'll add that you have obviously demonstrated that you know next to nothing about economics. The natural rate of unemployment is around 5%. The rate of unemployment at the moment is 5.5%.

So to put it simply, you're an idiot. The economy cannot support an unemployment below the natural rate while in equilibrium. Unemployment falls below the natural rate during a boom and above during a recession. Market forces eventually bring both into equilibrium in the long run, without government intervention.

Ever wonder why so few prominent economists are democrats? Its no mystery.

Obama's so funny!

He tells us "i'm a citizen of the world" (the most ridiculous senseless liberal comment ever! Even Miss Universe didn't dare!). So, If you don't feel american, why running of rthe US presidency?

He goes to Israel. Too bad journalists forget to talk about the real feeling of the israeli people about Obama (http://www.israelnationalnews.com/Articles/Article.aspx/8126)

He goes to europe talking to european and cancels his visit to wounded soldiers cause the army doesn't allow him to bring cameras

He says everything's fine in Iraq as he opposed the surge and even soldiers say how hard they don't want Obama to be their commander

His wife says he risks his life every single second for being black (for sure, every white man is a racist who wants to kill blacks)

He is friend with Jeremiah Wright (you know the one who said the US government created aids to kill blakcs), with Louis Farrakan (you know, the noe who hates jews and everything that's not muslim), friends with few of the worst liberal terrorists who have killed other americans in the sixties ...

And today, on politico.com, the oldie Barbra Streisand soppurts him like all filthy rich douchebag hollywood actors.

Obama shouldn't win. At least, if he wins, we're gonna have a lot of fun!

flip-flop; flip-flop .... then Michelle decides...

10 Karma for you my friend

My father and I agree though, maybe America needs Obama. Maybe the Americans need to go that deep in the shitter to finally wake the fuck up. Obama will be bigger disaster than Jimmy Carter.

I agree with you though, if Obama gets in it'll be a whole lot of fun. Luckily I have a Chilean and a British passport.

obama scares me. he doesnt say anything but what people want to hear, he is a scapegoatest and blames others. if you think the economy is bad now what do you think a major tax hike will do to consumer confidence? be very very weary of the wolf in sheeps clothing.

Q: Why is McCain like a cheap, shitty beer?

A: Cuz he's Bush Lite.

Last poll had Obama with 49 percent approval, and 40 for McCain. BArack has to win. He just HAS to.

What's funny is that (I'm french and lived a while in the US) had the same situation here in France ofr the last electinos.

It was Segolène Royal vs Nicolas Sarkozy.

S. Royal looks so much like Obama:

She came out of nowhere, built by polls. SHe is a woman, a liberal, making a lot of mistake with low internatinoal abilities (listen: she said while in CHina "we should learn a lot from chinese justice! They are way faster than us" ... yeah as fast as a bullet in your head). She had no record, never passed a serious law or anything (she wanted to ban thongs from schools and forbid japanese comics).

She went so high in the polls there was no way she was gonna loose.

But she lost and now, she is in a deeeeep hole.

I really feel like Obama is the same (woman/black , no record, no experience, flip flopping ) and people in France were telling the same (Elie Cohen a famous economist) "we need her as president so that we will be in such a bad situation that after her, we will be forced to change".

I'm pretty sure Obama's gonna loose.

Mccain is a fag im not gonna lie, hes old nobody wants that... Obama is new and has ideas, and anybody who thinks Mccain is gonna win is dumb as hell, the country is not going republican for this election with the last screw up we had..

Mccain is retarded aswell, Mccain finished 2nd to last in his class at westpoint, when obama finished 2nd overall in his law class at Harvard..Someone tell me who has more knowledge.

Dang... i was gonna say that.

And... the solution to most problems of the poor, in america at least, is.... work.

This is from one of the best books ever,"An Inconvenient Book"

---------------------------------

"The average poor household in America runs on only about 16hours of work per week. But it's not because there aren't any jobs; the 16 hours figure actually remains about the same regardless of how good or bad the economy is.

If we could somehow get that number to 40, which is generally considered to be full-time.... - ....number crunchers say almost three quarters of children in poverty (in America) would be immediately lifted out. It's at this point my mind starts to wander to the phrase that's constantly thrown around during the illegal-immigration debate:"jobs Americas just won't do""

-----------------------------------

And i thought i'd throw this in there....

From "An Inconvenient book."

--------------

"Here are the American cities with the highest poverty rates along with the percentage of time since 1965 that a Republican mayor was running them.

.....

to lazy to type

.....

The grand total? Republicans have run the cities with the worst poverty problems in America only eight percent of the time since 1965."

-------------------------------------

Ouch

OK.

If I need a lawyer with strong abilities to lie I'll choose Obama.

If I need a fighter pilot, I'll choose McCain.

How does it help to choose a president?

just out of curiosity, have you ever payed taxes, or do you even have a grasp on how much money people pay in taxes?

individual > Government...

Obama all the way!

hes going to takes us out of the war, McCain hes keeping us there.

besides who wants a president thats going to die the day after hes elected haha

but do you really think that the current republican party has done a good job with the economy the past seven years?

i don't know much about economics, but passing tax cuts for the top 1 percent while we are spending massive amounts of money on iraq doesn't sound like a good decision. argue all you want, but our country is in record debt, and the economy certainly isn't on the upswing

it ruins the economy because the government has to raise taxes for entitlement programs. When taxes are high people and companies have less money so the do not spend it and it decreases the size of the economy. If companies and people have more money they spend it and grow the economy which creates more jobs and better pay. This helps people more than anything. Also the same thing happens when the min. wage is increased. Since companies have to pay people more they dont hire as many workers raising unemployment. It is basic economics

big government is not the solution to helping people out

Well I actually dont give all of my money to the Church. A lot of it goes to other charities and such. They need money for stuff, but the importance of a tithe is to sacrifice part of your earnings for others.

As far as the offerings go...it's pretty obvious where it goes. I mean, they have to pay for buildings and salaries and such. Anyone who is putting a $5 bill in the basket that thinks everything is going to the poor, and that the church doesn't have to be paid for is an idiot. That's why I give some of my money to the Church, cause shit needs to be paid for and then other charities for the poor.

I am talking about people that are not citizens of this country. Read my post. The constitution doesn't apply to them. I hope you can stare into the faces of those who had loved ones killed in 9-11 and tell them that you want the terrorists who killed them to have rights. Well done turning my argument around, oh and you did a great job reading it too.

Drew, I see your point. If they are american citizens...well that's a different story. I guess it depends on the situation, really.

whoa whoa whoa

read my other post. It isn't just going to the church, but other charities too.

And the catholic church does not say you get salvation for a tithe. This isn't reparations in the middle ages. Its somewhat of a requirement, but you arent damned if you dont, and you certainly do not get salvation if you do.

The second paragraph is right. It's really unrealistic to think that just throwing money out there will solve it. It hasn't worked before and it wont work now. People can give money on their own, but the government requiring people to do it is wrong.

Im with you, Im moving to new zealand.

Whoa, whoa, whoa...you can go into a church without melting?

But seriously, when was the last time you went to church? Or is this theory based on soundbites of televangelists? I'm sure there are some churches like that, but certainly not all of them. The last church I went to didn't even pass an offering basket and never made mention of the offering in any service - if people wanted to give money, they had to look around/ask someone how to do so.

well he allowed the NSA to wiretap american phone lines since 2002, which violates a citizens right against unreasonable searches and seizures

Its mainly his ridiculous interpritation of the consitution that causes problems, he's ignored 750 laws passed by congress because the laws conflict with his interpritation of the constitution. the 750 laws include military regulations, affimative action, immigration and economic policy. Bush says he doesn't have to execute a law he personally finds unconsitutional.

such bullshit

I agree with this 100%. Obama will be an almost hilarious disaster. Most of the things he's campaigned on won't happen, and most of the ones that do will be epic failures.

Also, people who think McCain is "Bush Lite" or "McSame" clearly don't know anything about this race. Same with those who think Obama is gonna end all wars around the world - practically speaking, his stance on Iraq is basically the same as McCain's (at least today it is, who knows about tomorrow) and he also wants to send MORE forces to Afghanistan and has advocated unilateral military action in Pakistan.

The first and last things you said in your post make me wonder a lot about what youre supporting, especially if youre voting for obama, which is sounds like you are.

You say the government is abusing power. WHY DO YOU WANT TO GIVE THEM MORE POWER? Why do people want to have big government. Fuck big oil, fuck big corporate america. The problem is big government. Last statement, ben franklin's quote...Really no essential liberties are being given up by american people. Im talking about terrorists who are not citizens of this country. the constitution doesn't apply to them. They are war criminals. Yes, if detainees are american citizens, they are tried in a US court of law. One Al Queda person found in Afganistan who was from California was tried in a US court of law and is in jail now. The others that are not US citizens have no rights from the constitution. All they have is the limited rights outlined under the Geneva Convention, where they are tried under a military tribunal.

IF YOU READ ANYTHING...READ THIS:

If you give rights to the terrorists that are not American citizens in Guantanamo, YOU EXPOSE TO THE TERRORISTS HOW WE CATCH THEM: HOW WE GATHER INFORMATION ON ENEMIES, OUR SURVELLENCE METHODS, MILITARY TACTICS, EVERYTHING...

IF YOU GIVE RIGHTS TO THEM, YOU ARE ALLOWING THE TERRORISTS TO CHANGE THEIR TACTICS TO AVOID BEING CAUGHT SO THEY CAN STRIKE US AGAIN. IF YOU SUPPORT RIGHTS FOR TERRORISTS, YOU ARE HELPING THE TERRORISTS FIGHT OUR COUNTRY.

note to NS:

Sorry for multiple posts.

I motion to a multiple quote thing

also, punk_rider, nice to see you. Where the fuck have you been?

Fair enough. I just frequently hear people talk about how all churches want is money when they really don't have any idea what they're talking about. And you certainly I don't strike me as a churchgoer these days (you can take that as a compliment if you want haha).

Two things: under the Military Commissions Act, American citizens can be deemed "enemy combatants" and thus effectively lose their rights of citizenship, including the right to a civilian jury trial. Also, enemy combatants are NOT guaranteed Geneva Convention rights because they are not uniformed military members. That's a problem.

I think this election is the single greatest display of the incompetence of the american political system. It is my personal opinion that both candidates would have been extremely competent had they stayed with their original mission statements. McCain is not a huge conservative republican from what I've heard. In fact he seems to be more of a "liberal" republican. However, because of the nature of the political beast, McCain had to change his views in order to appeal to a wider range of people AKA super rich white people and the "oppressed white folks".

Obama was similar. While campaigning for the democratic party nomination he had a a different view. However after he got the nomination he seems to have mellowed out, and deviated from his original beliefs.

I would vote for Obama if I was 2 months older, but I think we're fucked either way, because the president is just a figurehead. What we need is not a new president, but a COMPLETE change in government.

If we weren't such a huge ass country this whole thing would be so much easier.

At it's heart, I find the notion of small government charming. The idea of a loosely knit conglomerate of communities, with a wide array of views and beliefs united beneath one fundamental virtue: "We should be able to as we wish, as long as we are not stepping on the toes of our fellows." is truly something to marvel at.

Ironically, in the sad unfunny way, the champions of this ideal are the very proponents of legislation that marginalize it. Prosecuting Spitzer on information obtained via the "Patriot Act" is a glaring example of Big Brotherish legislation birthed through the fear mongering of purported "Small Government" inclined leaders. Nevermind the mind numbing contradiction that exists in the form of Corporate Welfare/Wall Street bail outs....trickle down economics? Give me a fucking break...the disparity of wealth continues to grow, minimum wage has remained essentially static regardless of inflation and/or the spike in the cost of living, and corporations who are granted unwarranted tax shelters continue to lay off Americans at record levels. Why pay you or I to do a job that inmates or East Asian Nationals will do for pennies on the dollar?

Like it or not, we have a huge fucking government. Blame FDR, Carter, or whomever. At the end of the day, our government is involved in a slew of matters that the authors of the Constitution would disapprove of. That being said, I like to think that they'd opt for the Big Govt. that gives aid to its "lazy" needy citizens, over the one that embarks on imperialistic conquests under the guise of protecting our freedom.

what lunatic told you this and why are you so paraniod or stupid to believe it. if you seriously believe this then just dont vote

We are only letting the people in guantanamo have due process, so the inocent people who were turned in by bounty hunters for money will be allowed to leave prison and return to their family, the terrorists will stay.

I'm not exactly well informed on the candidates, seeing as I live in Canada, but as I understand it McCain wants to finish the war in Iraq, whereas Obama is willing to pull out. That shows me that Obama is willing to make a choice that is better for the world community as a whole, and not just for the image of the US. I think it will be interesting and refreshing to have a president who has been part of a group that was oppressed. Hopefully he will be a more accountable and responsible world leader than other presidents we have seen. Besides, McCain knows nothing about economics, and he has openly admitted that he is far more involved in military and intelligence issues. I would really like someone like Obama to be president instead of McCain. I firmly believe it will make the world a better place.
