what do you guys think of this car? its a volvo, has awd, 300 hp, 0-60 in 5.6, hauls people and gear, good gas mileage, and looks pretty damn sick. anyone have one of these that can tell me how they like it or whatever?

real sick car! i wanted one really bad, but i settled for a xc70. which i like a lot, it doesn't have 300hp, but it is turbo, and handles great. and it's better on gas than the v70R. i'd still love to have a v70r though. ipd sells an ECU upgrade that will boost the hp up to 335.
 
the problem is the power distribution is all fucked up, even though it is all wheel drive.  Under normal driving condition 90% of the power goes to the front wheels which is so dumb since it does make 300 hp and 295 ft/lbs (which is the number you really should look at, not hp.) So basically it drives like a front wheel drive car with torque steer upon accelaration and lots of understeer through the corners. Rear wheel drive for performance cars is where its at in my opinion. 
 
my dad had the s60r. they are real fast, real comfy, and it had really good handling. the manual transmission was real nice, but the throws were a bit long. but there were some quality issues. speakers shorting out, the glovebox rattled, wheel bearings needed replaced. he had it for 45,000 miles.

I have a 87 volvo wagon with about a 3rd of that things horsepower..

it refuses to die on me.. no matter how hard i drive it.. Safe, reliable, cheap, comfortable, transportation. End of story.
 
I drove a few of those last year. Well...it's a volvo so it will never die on you. Very premium quality and comfort etc. Its the "R" so it's obviously going to be fast (I had an 850R and I thought that was fast....this thing runs about 60 more hp) Handling on the v70 isn't exactly the greatest though! It's fairly unresponsive and you can't feel things as well as with some other vehicles. Once you get used to it though it will be fine. And AWD is killer for driving to the mountains. Solid car.
