Volkl Shiro Sizing

Usually my rule of thumb for which size of a particular ski I want is, choose the second-largest size available. Whether or not this is actually true, I think this method allows me to see through all the size inconsistencies with rocker, etc. For example: my Atomic Punx are 176, but my ON3P JMOs are 181. Longer ski because of the rocker. Both of these are one size smaller than the largest size available.

SO, I am having issues with this method for the Volkl Shiro. The sizing goes 173, 183, 193, 203. By my method, I would need the 193, but that just SOUNDS too big. Does the Shiro ski shorter than its size number? Or is the 203 just a a massive ski that is proportionally bigger than other skis on the market?

Thanks

How big are you? Where do you ski? What kind of terrain do you ski? What's your skiing style?

id do the 183 and call it a day. 193 is a massive ski. if you want this ski to drop lines in AK one week a year, then maybe consider the 193. but if you want this to use on pow days at home and maybe resort skiing, do the 183

the 193s ski pretty damn easily. That said they are heavy and big. How tall are you, whats your weight, and what type of riding do you do?

Gents. I am 5`8", 145lbs. I ski about 90% park. My park skis are 181, which is the reason i am thinking 183 might be a tad small for a pow ski.

lol first off if you are a park rat dont get shiros, they are directional. they have a rockered tail but its by no means a twin. that are also moderately stiff, my personal favorite pow ski actually, and are geared towards advanced-expert big mountain skiers. not towards someone who doesnt really really get after it and charge at all times.

and second at 5'8" the 193 is huge for you, especially for a non-twinned ski, yes the 203 is huge but for you the 193 is far, far to big. 183 is your best bet just not in the shiro.

finally my recommendation is that you check out the volkl ones or twos, that seems more up your alley as a park skier. theyre still fun skis just easier to ski and better in the deep
