Volkl Mounting

Boys,

Picked up a pair of 186 Volkl One's as my inbound, jibby, freeride ski for this year.

Currently struggling with where to mount. Want to go 2 cm back of true center (which I think is +8, not sure though) but the Volkl reps are saying the core isnt reinforced that forward and the bindings will be more prone to ripping out, so are advising +5 at a max. I'm use to a fair amount of tail on my skis and don't know how it will perform.

Anyone had any experience on the Volkl One's or Two's and care to share where you mounted and how you found them?

Cheers.

I feel more nimble with less weight in the nose, gives me more tail for landings, plus I'm pretty light (146 lbs) so I don't really feel the need to be far back on the ski for added flotation, that's what the reverse camber is for in my opinion. But i didn't say I want to center mount, I said i want to go 2cm back from true center as a minimum...

Having skied exclusively on volkls for the past two seasons, I'll say this:

I would personally mount the One (for what your trying to do) at the furthest forward factory printed line and call it a day.

My Volkl kinks from two years ago, I (being a shop tech) mounted twice due to breaking a binding. The first mount was at the +5 line. The second mount I decided to go with the +6 line, but couldn't because the now plugged holes were in the way. So I went + 7, and had no issues for the rest of the season. My Volkl steps from last season I mounted at the +6 line and have no complaints at all. My gotamas I mount only +1 or +2 from traditional, but that's one cause I was mounting them with dukes and they are my east coast powder ski. I hope this helps

If your 150lbs on a flexy playful pow ski. I wouldn't be too worried about ripping your bindings out. Depends if your really aggressive or more chill

Cheers fella - Based on that, I'm still leaning towards going forward to +7, but I'm pretty skeptical. 5cm back from true center just seems too far back. :(((((( Maybe that's just me being really picky though as I don't want to have to remount again.

Honestly, on the volkl one, I wouldn't go past +6. you're not going to get a whole lot more out of ski with bumping up one centimeter, and if volkl stops at the +6 mark, there is probably a reason... I would say do it at +6, and never think about it again. I can't imagine you being disappointed
