Volkl Ledge Vs. Armada Halo

Hey NS

The title basically sums uo my dilemma but i was hoping i could get some info from anyone who has ridden either ski or knows a little about them

I ski mostly park here in edmonton with mostly doing rails and boxes but am planning on getting out to the mountains a bit more and was wondering which will be better in park and which for mountain skiing wanting it to be durable easy to learn new tricks on in park, lightweight, have good pop, great float (for there width), thanks NS +k

I've heard the Ledge has durability issues and doesn't keep it's pop long. The Halo is a really sick ski. Very fun and shreds hard. The ledge would probably do better in the deeper stuff though.

It all comes down to whether or not you like the rocker on the halo. There are lots of threads on this topic but i would choose the ledge i think. Neither of these skis have a very wide waist so in terms of float, neither will be very good. The rocker on the halo might make a bit of a difference. If you had the chance to ski either of these skis or even just a rockered park ski before, your decision would be cleared right up.

Ya my buddies volkl walls get beat around the edges a bit to but it being better in deep stuff is a pluss considering a probable la nina

oh thats true i didnt notice that but the halos still have the reverse sidecut, which apprently makes them feel sorta weird (what ive heard)

The ledges are symmetrical while the halo isn't. Apparently centre mounting halos makes the ski feel very weird, so if you're planning to centre mount your skis go with the ledge as they are symmetrical.

Volkl has great durability and so does armada, but the halos are definitely more pricey then the ledge.

I've got 2 days on my brand new last years ledges... in my opinion, they're pretty sick. I trust volkl because they're pretty damn experienced in making skis, but we'll have to see how they hold up. bases might be a bit soft because I took quite a few chunks out compared to my other skis, although it was at abasins white strip of death so that definitely plays a part. I'd probably recommend em for tech rail stuff, they're a pretty small, light ski that you can whip around fast (also cheap! nice cause rail skis get wrecked inevitably...) stable enough, but not too stiff in my opinion. I'm a fan of the symmetrical design as well... haven't tried/heard anything bout the halos though.

I had them too I would not suggest them, chips easily, base isn't that strong but most fucked up that they are slow as shit. Even when I got them freshly waxed they would go normal speed for half a day and than they were slow as shit again.
