Volkl katanas

i skied some at big sky mt a couple days ago(8 inches fresh and drifts wind chop over a foot) and heres what i thought of them.

floated very well, i could charge very fast on them and im big 6'2 185, no tip dive.

stiff as fuck.

blew through everything, chop, wind crust, pow , crud.

very good on groomers for being 111 underfoot.

they arent that stiff..really come on now.

they had some construction problems, so Id wait for next years..

otherwise they have a tiny bit of rocker.

cut through chop pretty well.

the mounting point is extremely far back on the ski, so if your not always on top of your shit mount 1-2cm forward of the X

they float well(obviously),but not as well as other skis in its class

they carve very well of groomers for their size

theyre damp.

personally I would look elsewhere.

great ski for not being too fat, no camber, fat, stiff,

everyone who had them loved them but you have to watch out for the powder channel

breaking apart. I have seen several of the katanas this year where the powder channel

is either coming apart or has spilt and need to be cut out

they are the stiffest ive ridden, compared to my jjs. i thought they were really stiff, but i haven't rid anything else to compare to. what would you say is a stiff ski?
