Volkl Karmas

I've been using them for a while now (the 06/07 model) and they are super stiff. I'm 5'10 and riding 169's cos i prefer a shorter ski (and i'm pretty light). As previously said they're super light which is a nice advantage.

Overall:

Park: great fun, maybe lack a bit of flex. I don't do rails much so i'm in no position to tell...Landing jumps is a breeze they suck it all up.

Groomers: awesome, super stable at high speeds (normal and switch positions).

Pow/BC: f'in awesome, they shred in the deep pow, you float (it is 87mm at the waist!!!)

They are stiffer than your normal twinn, but they aren't that bad. They absolutely kill it in the park, ton of pop and are really light. I'm 5' 9" and 150lbs, and I ride the 177cm. It also handles the rest of the mountain like none other. I guess the only thing is if you want a super buttery ski, look at something else. Not saying you can't butter on these, it's just not nearly as easy as something like the triplets or something.

and if u doubts their park capabilities for 1 second...just look at all the crazy shit that tim russel and colby west does on them.
 
tonight i was doign right side 3's off this tiny little knuckle thing that was like 2 feet high...if that...so like they are very manuaverable(sp?)
 
i second this, only im 5' 6" and 140 lbs. with 161's, if you get them they arent rail skis at all, they were designed as more of a pipe ski and if oyu take them on rails it will ruin those beautiful super grabby edges

but im pretty sure you can slide a searchbar with them and they'll be just fine
 
the karmas arent that stiff. the tails are, but the tips are much softer. I also own chronics, and when comparing their flex patter, they werent that different. stiff skis are better all around
 
best ski i've riden in a long time. I prefer to ski pow, but when there's no new snow, they perform in the park great. I'm 5'9" and ride the 185 and they work perfectly. nasty on rails as well
 
they arent rail skis though, for rails it would be better to have a park ski, the karma is an all mt./park ski hence the stiffness, the edges wont be the same if you do rails on them
 
stiff, solid, light, but the top sheet is the bigest peice of de-laminating shit ever, be wary. i would sujjest them, but they fall apart really easily
 
mine are heavy, then again i have the first years... when they had that sweet metal plate in the top sheet
 
that happened to my friend too..but mine have held up really well. But they replaced my friend's with a brand new pair in just a few days.
 
I laughed at the 90% thing also...

I'm riding 177's loaded with Z12's and the combination is ridiculous. At 200lbs I'm very happy with the stability and swing weight of the skis. You can rip zipper lines in tight moguls, float knee deep powder, charge groomers and rule the park.

My only advice regards ski length. There is much debate between 177 and 185's for those in the 175-210lb range. I haven't skied both, but don't hesitate for the shorter of the two. This is a beefy ski and you can get away with the shorter size.

Oh yeah, one more thing, the top sheet on the 07's is suspect. I've only been on them 5 times and they aren't holding up even as well as my 1080's...What? Yes it's true, and I've only done a couple rails...
 
see, the top sheets blow, but the rest is solid, i wish they would just put a bit more time into the topsheet cuz then it would be my favorite ski EVER. but VOLKL is kinda lazy when it comes to that, my dads old volkls delamed too, so im not buying volkl anymore, 2 times for one house out of 2 is enough.
