Volkl Karmas

Anyone riding or thinking of buying them. Freeskier called them their favorite twin tip all-mountain ski. Does anybody agree?

i've been looking at them cause they seem pretty nice for east coast. don't know too much more about them though

Theyre pretty fat, so getting them long might not be such a good idea for the EC. Check out the vpros from 2 years ago, those rode so nice on ice.

if i had the money id go with the karmas, even tho i havent skied them yet. freeskier isnt the only mag raving about the performance on this ski either...

My friend just picked up the '06 karma in 177....coming off the V-pro 170, which he absolutely loved, and I've checked them out, they are dank as hell, very light but pretty stiff at the same time, you can push them hard and they'll push back, the topsheet is also amazingly sweet, kinda like skate griptape, a really rough feel, it's nice and durable. I aven't ridden them yet, but I can tell you when I flexed them in his living room they felt really nice, depends on you riding style and weight though, if you're a little heavy, or like to ski hard and fast, I'd say get them, cause they are stiff and aggressive, otherwise see if you can ride a pair before you decide....but I'll say this....if I could afford a set, they'd be in my quiver and waiting for opening day already.

i rode them all year last season on the east coast / they eat up everything ice crud and pow and they are very well made -germany baby

i just bought a pair of 185 05's for 350, sweet skis, they are mad light and firm, they are gonna rip. if you are aggresive then these are the skis for you, volkl knows what they are doing

i had a snowboarder blow right into my topsheet at full speed and it barely left a mark. i was so amazed...these skis are bombproof! and yes everything else you said is pretty right on...you push them they push you harder! god i love that ski

I was thinking about getting a pair for this season, but they are so damn expensive. Anyone know where I can get some cheap (i.e. under $550)?

They go for $599 just about everywhere, talk to your local shop though, the guy at my shop said he could do a little better on the price if my friend bought them from him, instead of buying online, and he said he'd mount and prep them for free if he got them there, just talk to some guys at your shop, they're usually rally cool about helping you out of the price and/or hooking it up with a cheap or free mount and wax, but I doubt those Volkls need any waxing, you can ski them out of the plastic from what I know.

you think 177's would work for a guy thats 6 foot 130 pounds that skis in the midwest? im looking at a pair of used ones, and i like their dimensions. i also heard that they're awesome in the park....

i own 05 06 169 karmas i must say... it was the best ski i have ever rode, it will turn smoothly on anything, it gives u super pop off jumps becasue it is stiff, i found the width of the ski very nice as well, i think if u get em you will love them...

yea i know i should have gotten the 177's but i ran into a fairly large problem... i was offered the 169's last pair brand new for 350, and so we got em, but the guy didn meanto say 350 it was supposed to be 550, so it was a lil bit of a fight for him to fork em over, but we got em so we went up to the same store but it was up the street a lil ways and they had the 177's for 550 and we were like well we got the 169's for 350 at ur other store down the street, they called the other store, long story short, we had to stick with the 169's, but idc becasue i still love the way they ride

^ you should ride them this year till the 06's go on sale after the new year / then sell the 169's and put that money toward the 06's in 177 / definitely a great ski though either way

yea i might think about that, or if they some how delam or break, but i was just amazed i got that ski for 350, and last year there was like a massive shortage on them

im thinking of getting them. my friend owns them and says they are amazing. i might get them, too bad for the price

i loved em. I broke them in half on the upper cirque at snowbird at the end of last season. Volkl has been sweet about warranty too though and the new ones are on their way.

This is going to mainly be an all mountain ski since my park skis are some 177 chronics...I am 6 foot 180...would the 185 be to big? What are your feelings on these vs. the Head Mojo 90?

What kind of turns can you carve on the hardpact with the karmas? im lookin at like a 177 ish to replace my PE's I thought that they had a high radius at 20m but the Karmas are even more than that.

Is the 87mm wasit to big for the east?
