I just bought a pair of Volkl Gotama's on pro form. The only problem is I have not rode the ski, I just trusted a friend who had. Has anyone ridden these skis, and what do you think?

i havent ridden them, but ive talked with people who have:

they're nothing like the Explosivs. the explosivs are super stiff (and now have no twin tip). the gotamas are really, really soft and super fat. they are supposed to be fun, but not designed for blasting through crud at 50 mph like the explosivs are

I dunno that you have it right Mr. Concept. I took mine out for thier very first turns this afternoon. There was 6 inches of new snow this morning, and then it got pretty choppy by afternoon when I got there. I had no problem busting through it, in fact, I had more issues talking the skis into slowing down and making some turns so I didn't get my pass pulled on the first day at that mountain this season. When I managed to regain some control over the skis, they carved suprisingly well for a fat ass ski. I haven't skied the explosiv's but wow, I'm sure happy with my purchase, and I can't wait for a real powder day.

Over time, most people experience life involving love, sufffering, compassion and an uspeakable drive for something new... for me there's skiing, nothing more nothing less and it encompasses everything, every day I'm out there.

^I'm guessing you don't weigh 170lbs. I hope they do kill crud though, because if they do, I'll get them.

the skier mag review said they could be ''overpowered'' by large aggressive riders

they will work fine in pow but in the slopes... 105 under foot is kinda wide for it.
