Volkl failing to back their product?

Basically I need help:

I bought the dreaded volkl wall 07/08 skis from untracked.com and got them mounted back home in england. After 4 days on snow the bindings pulled out, but I was on holiday in switzerland so I got them remounted and this time I checked that the correct 3.5mm drillbit was used. But after another 10 days the bindings pulled out again. So I sent the skis back to mastco volkl's UK distributer but they have refused to warranty them citing the fact that the holes were drilled too big both times even though I know this to be false. After trading several emails they offered to redrill the skis with helicoils but stated this would void the warranty and I would take responsibility for any further problems. Since this ski is known to be dodgy at best, I feel that the company is completely failing to back their product and I was hoping for some advice as to what to do? If anyone from volkl sees this then get in touch with me. Anyone else.. Help?

i dont know what to tell you that sucks i would keep emailing the company srry i cant help i hope someone from volkl sees this keep bumping it

yeah man, thats terrible. You might want to check your bindings too to make sure the hardware isnt defective or the wrong stuff for some reason its weird that they pulled twice. If you end up having to fix it yourself i would suggest using some epoxy whether youre gonna redrill or mount in the old holes, but if you do go for the 24 hour stuff and not the five minuite, the 24 seems to have a bit more elasticity to it and little more give so that it wont crack in the cold.

no there arent any rail marks and no the hardware isnt defective, even volkl admitted that.. does anyone have an email address for Volkl US warranty dept? because talking to the uk distributor is getting me nowhere

You gave in too easily. If their case is that the wrong bit was used, you know that's not the case so you can argue that and don't take no for an answer. Once bindings have been in and out you can't tell if it was drilled with a 3.5 or 4.1 anyway so they're bullshitting you.

yes this is a problem with the 07/08 it happened to many of the walls i've seen it first hand you need to contact a volkl dealer or volkl to have a warranty claim made.

sorry didn't read the full post not quite sure how they do it over there but i'll try to check on it

don't accept it bro. i had problems with my AR6 here in NZ, got a bubble in the base and I was told it wasn't a manufacturing default and it wasn't a mounting default either.(bubble was directly under a mounting screw which had visible water corrosion). It wasn't me waxing them too hot because I had been waxing my own skis for years and it never happened to any other ski. So I was like, WTF? So this bubble just appeared, its meant to be there or something? I just kept at it asking questions etc., and the NZ rep was taking forever to reply to e-mails, like weeks inbetween, so I started e-mailing Armada heads. End of story they decided to warranty it since the process was taking so long. But it sounds like you know you're right like I did so keep at it man. Good luck

yeh I will keep going because I know I am right, but I need more direct contact details for volkl, because all I can get through to is the UK distributer and they are being less than helpful..

Here's how the distribution chain normally works:

- manufacturer (in this case Volkl) makes product

- distributor for the country BUYS product from manufacturer

- distributor for the region BUYS product from distributor for country (in certain cases)

- distributor SELLS product to retailer

- retailer SELLS product to consumer

so you are trying to get a different distributor to replace your (seemingly deffective) skis. no wonder they're not being much help to you. all product has serial numbers and country can be identified from these.

your best bet at this point will be to go directly to the retailer that sold you the skis. they will have much more sway with a distributor than you trying to email the US distributor yourself.

hopefully this helps

If the shop is the one that incorrectly mounted your bindings in the first place you should be taking it up with the shop that mounted them and not Volkl. It is not Volkl's fault that the shop who originally mounted your ski incorrectly mounted them therefore causing you to have to get them mounted again probably in a spot that they should not have been mounted in. Also, if they had ripped out once already the shop who mounted them the second time should have used heli coils. Honestly if the shop messed up the mount you should be taking it up with the shop you paid to mount them.

Volkl wall man, centre is standard, he would have been a fool to mount them anywhere else.

It is horrible that Volkl are doing this, they know that they have had a problem with the wall this year and should back their warranty statement...

I'm going to ty and talk to some UK based people for you man, where'd you buy them?

the skis were mounted at true centre which is the recommended point for the wall. Just to reiterate there is no reason to believe the skis were ever incorrectly mounted, it is just that I cannot 100% guarantee they were correct the first time (as in i didn't stand and watch a 3.5mm drill bit go in to the ski as I did the second time)

bump + a big public thank you for the help from flyingpelvis, BamBam and pipemunky

ok i would like to say a major thank you to untracked.com otherwise known as Al's Ski Barn!.. They sorted this whole thing out for me, without me even having to ship my skis to the US. The shop is so legit! So a massive thank you to them! and also a thank you to everyone who helped me out with information!
