Volkl Bridge?

I am looking for a ski that would be good for 70% all mountain 30% park, and be able to handle to occasional big pow drop

I am 6'2", 175 lbs, advanced to expert as far as all mountain goes, fairly new to park. I really want to progress in the park, but i don't want to sacrifice much all mountain ability for that. Can't really name a home mountain to describe what kind of conditions i'll be in because i'll be tripping all over from whistler to colorado. I'll probably be skiing tahoe the most

I am leaning toward the volkl bridge, but heard they are pretty heavy and stiff? I am also considering the armada ar6, dynastar big trouble, scott punisher. am i on the right track or should i be looking at different skis? price isn't a factor so much, just want to make the purchase worth it

definitely open to more suggestions too and thanks for your advice

They are kinda stiff, but not too stiff. They would be good for pow with 92 underfoot. They would be great for 70% all mountain and 30% park. They aren't that heavy, and they look sick.

Your description is perfect for them.

Me being 6'1 160 punds, they were the best ski I've ever ridden for exactly what they'll do for you. 70% all mountain 30% park. They'll be perfect.

spot on son. they'd be ideal. i assume its 185 your lookin at?

185 arvs for a softer option. 179/186 chronic blends for a stiffer option.

I am 6'2" and 185. Here is what I wrote to our buyer from the demo last year about the Bridge.

Volkl Bridge[/b] – 177 cm – midsole mount (back some): This replaces the Karma, but the Karma it is

not. It is wider and felt softer. The Bridge was a fun 50-50 (park/mtn) ski. It skied switch quite well for having such a

short tail. The ski skis similar to the

Karma, but is slower edge to edge and doesn’t hold an edge as well. The ski held and edge quite well but I could

push it too far and chatter/wash out, the Karma never did.

The ski also felt a little on the heavy side, but not bad.

Graphics: Meh.

Final Thoughts: Pretty good all mountain twin, but I felt

there was better for my skiing style.

Defiantly not a bad ski by any means but, as I said, it’s not the Karma.

I really liked the Rossignol Brigade. Here is what I wrote:

Rossignol Brigade[/b] (Old Scratch BC) – 185 cm – mounted about Modern (side-cut center): One of the most improved skis from last

year. They have stiffened it up quite a

bit. The ski holds an edge really well

and carves the hard pack really well.

It also skis switch fantastically.

I really like the ski as an out West all mountain do-it-all. The ski feels like a slightly toned down

MSP.

Graphics: Nothing special, simple and clean

Final Thoughts: I would rather ski the Brigade than the

Bridge. It is a great all-mountain

ski. Not sure if it will sell here in

MN.

The 4Frnt MSP also rocks.

4FRNT MSP[/b]

– 181 cm – mounted at midsole: This is

a great one-ski quiver ski. Holds an

edge really well. Loves to go fast and

do big turns. Only downside is that it

isn’t as versatile in turn shape as other skis (Magfire 12 and other

mid-fats). This was one of my favorites

of the day.

Graphics: Some of the best I’ve ever seen.

Final Thoughts: I really, really like this ski. I could see it replacing my Monster

82s. It kills it all mountain and

should be pretty good in the park. It is

really stable and strong going really fast.

I used to race and ski fast and hard. Hope this helps.

thanks alot for your input guys

how are the ar6s all mountain? i've been using the freeskier buyers guide to gauge the skis i'm looking at, are those reviews pretty reliable?

The Bridge does not replace the Karma.

That would be the Wall.

The Bridge "bridges" the gap between the discountinued Karma and the Gotama and it is made for exactly what you are looking for. Wide enough for soft snow, with a nice mid-flex for park as well as charging. When I demo'ed them I felt that the ski wanted to go fast more than anything, and I felt more at home skiing the crud and soft stuff with it.

Cool I think these sound like the skis for me

I'm 6'1" to 6'2" 175 lbs coming off of 174 scratches, do you think that 177 or the 185 would be better?

I would say 185. Im in the same situation. Im 6'1" 170lbs and prob gettin the 185 walls in reference to size. I was comin from a 176 armada.

I'd go 185. But that's just me personally. I like a larger, stiffer ski.  But 185 should be good for you as well, especially if you're doing mostly all mountain.

i'm the same size...

would 177s be too short for me? or is it just a personal preference kind of thing?

i withdraw my initial reccommendation of the bridge (its still a great ski btw) in favour of the 182 scott punisher as you seem reluctant to step up to the 185 bridge.

punishers kill it all over- its based on the mission which has been ski of the year 2 years running, just with a twin added. so user friendly but good for charging a bit too. that would be my pick.
