Vista (Kind of a rant, sorry)

Alright, I am SICK or people say Vista sucks. End of Story.

First of all, I'm a mac guy. I use macs, but I also have a pc. I agree that Vista WAS bad when it can out, but now with all of the updates, its fine. People need to realize that OLD things wont work (2002 and older). That's all. That's inevitable. Most my build up anger comes from work. I work at Best Buy, and people come in all of time, and say, "Windows Vista sucks. Vista is too buggy. Vista wont work with what I want to do. People tell me vista is bad." Well then I ask the customer, "Well have you ever used Windows Vista" and 9 times of of 10 the answer is no. I love it then people relie on other peoples opinons with out ever trying the product. That really bugs me. I have been working at Best Buy of a while now, and every now and then I see old customers come in and then I ask them how Vista is, and how they like there new computer. For the most part everyone always loves it, there are a few times were people are confused about somethings.

But what really set me of the edge is that I'm sitting in my art history class, and the teacher said something about Vista, and this girl in fornt of me who is a gothic fuck with red hair yells out "Vista is the devil! Vista is the devil! It's full of bugs and won't work with anything!!" Bitch, shut the fuck up. Go back and put some more black eye liner on.

So that is the end of my little rant, for now. Please don't critizie something when you have never used it. Again, I'm a mac guy, I really don't have nothing against pc's, I just perfer macs.

well, when i got my new laptop, it came with vista. and for the first two weeks, i hated it. i got sooo frustrated. i aws like, damni, i just want xp on it. but then it grew on me. It just took a little time and patience to figure everything out.

being a mac user i see many downfalls with vista. alot of people i know use it and it works fine but there is still a long way to go for vista to catch up to osx

i agree with you for the most part. 75% of the people have probably never even used it. I'm not a mac person by any means I have XP, but I did watch the hell my roommate went thru with Vista on his computer. It didn't look fun.

I do use Vista, and I hate it. A lot. Especially in Word, I want the simplicity of XP. I don't want to spend 5 minutes figuring out where page break is, or where the next feature is. I don't see how Vista improved anything other than confuse old-time Windows users.

Other than the Microsoft office programs however, I don't have a real problem with Vista. It hasn't affected the performance of my computer, just of my work.

I love Vista. The problem is that too many people buy cheap computers that barely meet the Vista requirements and then don't strip away all the extra shit you don't need so that it can run well. You gotta get rid of the AeroGlass bullshit and all that, it's nice when your computer looks pretty but if you didn't shell out the cash to make it work - suck it up. There's also a bunch of bloatware and shit that should be removed regardless of how good your computer is, but that's the way it's been with EVERY Windows OS...

Also, Vista can run programs from well before 2002, the guys at Microsoft may not be the brightest but they did think of that shit. Right-click on the shortcut and go to the Compatibility tab, then check the box that says "Run in Compatibility mode for..." and choose Windows XP SP2. Voila. You can run anything you want.

i just am so used to xp that vista frustrated the shit outta me. but now i have a mac so its all good

I have XP with sp3 and I downloaded a vista style skin so it looks sick and works extremely well. Had my comp for 4 years and it still runs excellent.

it's because of the Mac commercials. Microsoft goes and makes all these fucking programs for Mac, being a nice guy and all, and what does Apple do? they come back with all of these attack ads against Vista...like "thanks for Office, now suck my dick"

i haven't had any issues with Vista yet, it's the next best thing to Linux as far as I'm concerned. oh, and i can play games on it. and i'm sick of having Mac people tell me Macs are better for editing and shit, that's bull, i could build an editing rig that would tear the shit out of any Mac, for half the price, and install Premiere Pro on it and i'm fucking set.

/end nerd rant.

i dont really see any difference between vista and XP.

an operating system isnt a cheap thing that is easy to switch up anyway dude. its not like you can just try em out. you gotta go off word of mouth.

i have a mac and i love it. its just easy and sleek and does all the glossy things that vista does using half the processing power. I don't really know why I have a mac other than the fact that i like it better (no particular reason) but I HATE THOSE COMMERCIALS.

i am very against people slandering other companies in commercials. i honestly think it reflects badly on the company itself.

and both my boyfriend and my sister have vista, he uses his to edit and shes in digital animation and both of them find they work well.

i have owned both. i DO own both. and i find osx to be about a thousand times more stable than xp ever was.

that's the truth. especially that one that's on where windows is counting his advertising dollars. Mac has been running those goddamncommercials for how long now? and Windows has run 3 commercials and now THEIR the ones wasting money on advertising?

i bought xp for my most recent computer, my gaming rig. once i update that, i will most likely buy vista. from a gamers point of view, XP uses a lot less resources then vista

I love how mac implies that there's something wrong with vista when It's perfectly fine. I've never had a problem with vista before, and yet everyone who owns a mac talks about how many problems vista has. 90% of computer problems are caused by stupid users

Yes. I have it and I have never, ever had a problem with it. There is only one thing that I didn't like, but I easily fixed in little to no time.

what does a word processing program have to do with an OS? that is microsoft offices problem, not vista. tard.

there is nothing inherently wrong with vista, it is just a little taking on low end systems, making it seem pretty slow. i dont mind it, if i had a faster computer i would love it, and there are certain things that it does better than xp. searching your computer for a specific file is faster with indexing, and while uac is a big bitch sometimes, it does have a pretty good purpose. for the people who don't know how to take care of their computer, it provides an extra layer of security they wouldnt normally have with xp unless they had a nice antivirus program.

i turned of UAC and indexing because it slows down my computer. i refuse to play assassin's creed at less than 150 fps.

Agreed. Mac has launched the greatest propaganda of our time. Their commercials single-handedly ruined Vistas rep with the average person. It's bullshit that they are allowed to do that.

Vista is amazing.. I actually get into heated debates with people who claim Vista is garbage, most of the time they don't even run that operating system. Vista is good, people who think Vista is bad are either heavily influenced by others, are retards or actually have a valid reason to hate Vista. P.S.. I have Vista and another computer with XP

i got it shortly after it came out and was so dissapointed. when i installed xp my computer just ran faster and smoother.

but all os are like that when they come out i guess i might reinstall it now and give it a try with all the updates.

XP will still run faster, it simply a more basic OS and not as flashy as Vista. i was using XP for a while until i realized Microsoft refuses to make games that will work with anything other than Vista.

yes. but i can only assume that they havent gotten THAT much better with Vista, plus it tends to bog down computers. I am NOT ragging on Vista, if you love it, props to you. i just personally didnt like it at all

Vista and XP are pretty different. Other than performance and Office, there's not that big of a difference between them. Performance with Vista is improving, and Vista's file sizes are like half the size of XP file sizes, so there's potential.

too late now haha. i also dont know whether its in Vista, but i have found that macs dont have the gradual slowdown that xp had. again, maybe i was doing something wrong, but im way happier on my mac.

I never really used vista that much, i used xp at home and was perfectly content but then i got a mac for college and looove it. Now anytime i get on someones computer with vista i get so confused and frustrated as iv only been using my mac, macs just seems so much easier and user friendly. Then again im not good with computers anyway so that might have something to do with it.

I had XP forever, then got Vista with my new laptop about a month ago, and it's fine. I really haven't found many differences besides simple layouts and schemes. I actually like the new look of Vista compared to XP. And I have a good system to run it so it's actually a lot faster than my old computer. I really don't see what all the fuss is about, I haven't really found any differences worth mentioning, good or bad.

Wow I just re-read myself and it looks like I've contradicted myself!

Regardless, office 2007 comes with Vista, and I'm not big on computers beyond using the internet and writing papers or making spreadsheets.

I only recently switched back to office 2002 I think, and I'm much happier about it.

i got vista 64bit business for free from school, and i use it in bootcamp, and i have no problems whatsoever (besides the lack of support for 64bit windows..).

i didnt like vista at first, because it didnt come in a good state.. it seemed like it wasnt done, and someone just decided to start selling it.

gradual slowdown? do you know anybody with a 5 year old running apple's os? because I know plenty of people with 5 year old computers running xp, some of them are incredibly slow, and some run fine. the slow ones are run by idiots who dont know how to take proper care of their computer. at least half of the time, a virus scan, defrag, and system clean up will make it nearly as good as new, and these things should be done regularly anyways

Office is separate from Vista. You had to pay money to have your computer come with Office 2007 so you can't be putting down Vista because you don't like a totally separate program. Thats like saying "I Don't like Windows XP because the game Half Life isn't fun to play."

What do you get on Far Cry 2? I am sitting on about 55fps, maxed @ 1680x1050.
Im ready to get blown away.

EXAMPLE, that was just an example. I had to pick a game that everyone would know so the analogy would be understood by people that think Vista and Office are the same thing

very underrated.
for some people its a great OS, its just there is not a lot of marketing, so people dont care about it.

I agree, people are hating on vista for no reason which is just stupid. However it isnt as good as it it should be. I feel it could have been written much better, theres too much shit going on in the background, however if you have a good pc then it dusnt really matter just most peoples pc cant see any improvement because they dont have a pc able to take advantage of it fully.

The problem is people are dumb as shit and cant use their pcs. I had people in my classes at uni all blaming vista for things not opening on the unis system. When infact there problem with was with office 2007 and the new file formats, people just blame vista as soon as they have a problem.

I wouldn't pay for it, but it is a really fun game. I am getting Fallout 3 tomorrow, I hope it lives up to the reviews.
