Vision 118 VS JJ UL

What up gearheads. I currently own a pair of line vision 118‘s. I intend to use them for my pow ski this year in British Columbia. My main resort is Kicking Horse and I plan to do a lot of touring in the back country this year as well. I’ve been hesitant to mount my shifts because I’m not sure if they’re too wide for a daily driver. There is currently a pair of Armada JJUL for sale and I’m considering buying them and selling my visions. Does anybody have some comparisons between the two skis and some recommendations? I’m torn between the two. (Also my visions are 189 and the JJ’s are 192 and im 6’3” 185)

mostly just looking for a easy to ski, fun pow ski that can do everything

cheers

The Vision is heavier (not by a whole lot, probably ~100 grams or so) than the UL in similar sizes but IMO is way more versatile. Line honestly crushed it with the Vision and it’s a sick pow/touring ski. The UL is not a daily driver so if that’s what you’re looking for, look elsewhere. It’s sick in pow and sucks everywhere else, it’s too light and soft to be a daily anywhere let alone Kicking Horse. If you want a wide daily ski, peep something like a Jeffrey 110 or Moment Deathwish. The Vis 118 wouldn’t be awful but it’s not as stable as the less uphill/more downhill oriented skis

To each their own, but I got my pair of UL for probably the same reason you’re looking at that pair, and hindsight 20/20 it is definitely not a wide-waist daily. Also the softest ski I’ve ever personally owned. I keep it around for deep days and the sweet Japanese raccoon topsheet. If it’s between buying the JJs and keeping the visions to do the job, I’d say you’re better off with the latter. If you’re going to spend the money regardless, it sounds like the comment above me is the move; maybe look into spending a little extra for the Jeff’s or the Deathwish.
