VISHNU WIDE VS ARV 106

im 6’3 200lbs and debating between the two skis. Im from the west coast so i will on occassion ski big mountains like whistler and revelstoke and dive right into the powder. My weekly skiing is a small local mountain that has a tow rope in the park so i will definitely be skiing a lot of park but park isnt my favourite style of riding i like hitting all jumps and spinning. I love ripping fast and sending and also buttering over everything but i just dont know what to go with

I own the ARV 106s. I don't pay much attention to Vishnu despite their presence here in NS, but my feeling is they are two very different skis apart from being 106 waisted twin tips with progressive mount points. But I'll give you my thoughts on the ARVs:

The ARV 106s are heavy and stiff, and that's not an exaggeration by any means. Maybe not hard charging-directional ski stiff, but for freestyle skis they definitely are. If you don't believe me, just read [tag=105085]@Twig[/tag] 's roofbox review. I think they'd be a great option for you at your height and weight for Whistler: I skied 5 days at Whistler last season with my 188s and I'm 5'11" 190lbs and I thought they were great for ripping all over Whis. I feel like the 188 could also work at your height and weight for your local hill since it seems you prefer more of an aggressive approach. I definitely would stay away from the 180 length, as their true length probably comes out to like 178 or less.

Full disclosure, I'm selling my pair of ARVs here in the buy sell section (plugplugplug) only because I don't plan on skiing that aggressive anymore as I'll be skiing with my kids soon.

Wide are light and soft

My favorite skis honestly I can spine fast 5050 anything the rockers make the swaps easier super fun ski that make the whole mountains your playground ™️

Get plus for more stability

Don’t sleep

I’ve got both JJs and Wides, and I’m just about to pull the trigger on the wide plus. From how you’re talking about how you ride I would recommend the Wide pluses bc they’re gonna give you more stiffness for big mountain while still having that fun Vishnu feel my guy

fuck i would totally do that except they are sold out in my size for the wide plus:,(

Maybe on3p jeffrey or faction prodigy 2.0?

heard from some people that the arv 106 can feel a bit too planky and stiff for park.

wide is too soft to charge comfortably.

but using the wrong tool for the job is always more fun

Yeah for sure, but i think it has to do with mindset.

a homie of mine explained his vishnu wet as the perfect ski for every day, because no matter what, you had the wrong ski for the conditions. No need to stress about it
