I used to think this would be the best idea but its not feasible simply because the base would just wear down too easily.

I’ve purposely ripped edge out of my wets and epoxied the gap to seal it off and it all works fine but the base wears away from sliding rough rails / concrete way too easily. Then the underside of the sidewall is exposed and boom you can see wood and the ski’s kinda fucked.

if they can figure out a way to make the bases much tougher and resilient it would work forsure.
