Vishnu culture being ruined

I feel like Vishnu had a culture 20 or 3 years ago where only kids with hella good style and tricks were riding them and now there are just a bunch of kids riding them that can barely hit a rail. It’s kind of disappointing to see. I get it, it’s a business and at the end of the day a sales a sale but it’s just annoying to see. Vishnu’s been killing it recently. Obviously not on them at all. I think they’re keeping it real and dominating right now.

I would 100% rather see a core brand find success with a broader audience regardless of skill level than to see it crippled by limited reach because of your perception of who should be allowed to enjoy their skis.

The more people who ride them, the better they will be able to support the skiers, skiing, and content we love. silly to have feelings that would work against that potential.

Besides that, these kids who “aren’t good enough” are obviously tapped in to what is good. Give them time to developer their passion and ability. Prolly your next favorite skier.

Why are people who ride Vishnus edgelords

All the ones Ik try to act edgy and different and hey man you do you I can still think it’s dumb but what ever floats your boat

Yeah that super commercial and lame and business of them. I get my skis from trees that I cut down and shape by boiling water under them to shape. If you buy skis you're a poser who is not core and should probably go play football or some shit. People who buy things are commies.

also damn.... now i wanna get vishnu’s even more to piss off OP and be another person not worthy of them

hey op, I just bought a pair of wets and I have never even skied in my life. Im gonna bring them to my local hill and ride the magic carpet all day and learn how to ski. Are you mad yet, huh huh

About to buy and use some vishnus exlusively for dad turns just to piss op off.

Also, dominating? This sounds a lot like a thread I saw a lot of back in the revision days

I started this brand to reach kids on tow ropes that can only do a front 2 out of a flat bar but love to ski (me when I was 15) not cool guys with a lifetime of private coaching that think they are superior to other people because they know how to do tricks that other people don’t.

Not saying that’s you, OP, just a prevailing attitude I have noticed in ten years of living in Utah.

One day you will realize that skiing DOES NOT MATTER in the grand scheme of life and that will be a glorious day for you.

Also, if “Vishnu culture” does exist it centers around going out to your local park with two inches of snow and skiing on a park bench. I’ve seen more of that in the last three years than ever before and I think that’s neat.

Buy Vishnu skis to support the independent business - this guy - stoked on creating products for us, for newschoolers. We all start somewhere. Most brands of skis are owned by larger private equity firms - holding groups of brands that completely contrast one another to diversify revenue. Buying vishnu appears to support this guy, putting himself out there to support skiers who get weird. Its brands like vishnu that keep the sport core, no matter who is riding them. The more rich dads, the more tendies vishnu dude gets. Heck he might even create a job for a shredder or two!

Because dolan made a meme out of their assclown business marketing strategy.

“buy these skis if you want to do urban because our skis are specially made for urban”

i mean come on guys did you really think good skiers over age 12 wouldnt laugh at that shit?

are you referencing yourself in the third person now? Far out

This is the attitude alot of idiots have towards nike and adidas getting in to skateboarding.

in the end it comes down to making a good product that customers appreciate.

its not like skateboarders buy nike or adidas because they think it will make them popular or look hardcore.

for a very longtime there have been too many skate shoe companies that only stayed afloat bc kids thought they were core brands whos autistic engineers cared more about skateboarding than some genius engineers at nike or adidas.

Its a total crock of shit tho. Adidas and nike care about skateboarding just as much as any other skate shoe brand.

just like volkl tier brands care as much about freestyle skiing as any other brand.

if you make a good product, you arent obligated to suck the customers dick.

sucking the customers dick is what you do when you have joker engineers.

Chill out, dude. We should be thankful for brands like this that are keeping things true to the roots of love and passion, and instead of catering to dads on vacation (no offense to NS dads on vacation lmao)

Love it but i think skiing itself DOES matter in the grand scheme of things in life. It’s the life blood of many people including you and most people on this site I would say.

I think what doesn’t matter in the scheme of things is how amazing you are at skiing. To me it matters wayyy more how someone presents themselves to me when they are skiing or when they aren’t. I really enjoy skiing with people and being around them when they are kind and fun to be around. If they are a great skier as well then it’s a just a bonus. If they aren’t it can still be fun. I’d rather be with a shitty nice skier than a cocky pro skier any day of the week.

Lol Vishnu wasn’t around 20 years ago.

I remember when Vishnu came on the scene. This guy I knew from MHSSC with dreads named Kale was riding them. That dude ripped on rails.

I like that kids can jump on some Vishnu’s and swerve and have a good time.

My buddy and I used to do what we called “bopping” where we would have a few drinks try to ski like a swerve skier all day in the park. We called it bopping because we would “bop around” and “bop on/off features”. It was really fun. 10/10. I just suck at swerve skiing.

If kids are enjoying Vishnu, more power to them!

that’s so dope, my homies and I used to do “magnus laps” where we’d do basically the same thing, just swerve around everywhere from getting off the list to back on. Typically happened when we were too high to ski properly lmao

No I get it, and I think I worded this wrong in some parts. It’s not the fact that kids are riding the skis, I thinks it’s dope getting kids on skis no matter what but from my experience at my local mountain, it’s the kids that aren’t the best at skiing but are obnoxious and think that they’re unreal at skiing trying to be someone that they aren’t. I’m always down to help kids learn a new trick in the park and help however I can because it’s the best feeling. But it’s when the kids ride around and are assholes to kids and post edits of them hitting a pvc tube to switch 40 times in one video on ig and then flame kids in the comments. There’s a lot to this sort of “Vishnu culture” and I think that it used to be a massive group of humble people helping everyone progress.

Don’t hate on the Vishnu. I rode them for the first time last week and they are a blast, super flexible. I am now a butter god.

I remember way back around 2005 we would do night park laps with no poles and it was 'edgy' lol

didn't they have a reputation for only having ppl that do weird swerve shit and can't ski from the beginning?

not sure why you're getting downvoted for this, it's 100% accurate lol

You have a weird hate boner for Vishnu. Did Emmet fuck your girl or something?

not sure why you think this, I own vishnus and I've met emmet irl he's a cool guy!

skiing DOES NOT MATTER

guess we do agree on some things...

as for the rest of this thread, y’all are cringe. If you actually get bothered by how other kids ski or that they suck then you’re way lamer than they are.

It ain’t even “Vishnu culture” bro there just “ski culture” and y’all are probably the ones ruining it anyway.

It happens with every cool underground “core” company. People who are shit buy their stuff to be cool. In the long run it doesn’t matter. I’ve learned it only matters what’s on your feet. In the end you can only control yourself.

also OP is prolly shit at skiing and wants Vishnu’s tbh

I'm a dog shit park skier who can't hit a rail to save my life. I'm gonna go buy vishnus to be a "vishnu poser" just because of this thread

2010: buy full tilts it will make you a better skier they say

2020: buy Vishnu™ it will make you a better skier they say

better skier in question:

tldr: Vishnu will destroy you before it leads you to salvation.
