Viewing your laptop on your tv?

unless you have a new laptop you're most likely gonna need a mini-dvi to dvi cord. Just check on the side/back of your laptop to find what your digital video output jack looks like
 
unless you know have your talking about, you going to need a vga cable, because 99% of PCs have them, and newer ones have HDMI. laptops rarely have dvi, the only laptops to have mini-dvi are older macs.99% of HD tvs do not have DVI, but have all have HDMI, and you can get a DVI to HDMI adaptor.
