Viewer vote system

What would you guys think of a viewer vote system in skiing?

I watch a lot of competitive skiing but I also like F1. In f1 they have a system called driver of the day were the viewers can go in and vote on who they think had the best performance.

Even tho skiing and f1 is wayyyyy different I really like this idea and watching the big air yesterday I was sort of disappointed with the outcome which got me this idea.

One could argue that the big air and slopestyle scoring system is that the one who preformed the best wins. But I feel like after every competition 90% are mad over the results.

What do you think?

Absolutely not, simon dumont won big air with a dub front when they had viewer voting, never again.

Hahaha yeah it seems like a good idea but they tried and Dumont won with a dub front over a switch dub wobble 12 and it was 2009 so that was a new trick at the time. "Never again" indeed

I get where you’re coming from, I am a big f1 fan too. But hell no. I remember dumont winning big air off a super man double front flip because the fans just didn’t know what they were voting on. All they saw was “ohhh front flip”

I get what your saying and I’m kinda young so didn’t even know there had been this system. What you saying is true and I think the fact that he won is kinda whack. I absolutely agree that we as viewers should have nothing to do with whom actually wins but I think it would be fun with a community voting. Kinda as they do with real ski but not as big with big air and just as a fun side thing or whatever.

but yeah I do believe it’s kinda hard cuz in f1 the driver who won does not necessarily mean he did the best race. While in freesking the one who performs the best is always the one that wins or at least should. This system could also lead to wrong results since the more popular skiers would get more of the votes leading to the same persons wining the viewer vote and that would likely influence the judges.

so I guess this system might not be a good idea. My thoughts come from the fact that I think that the results quite often are, in my mind, wrong. Does anyone even know who the judges are and how they decide the score. I think we almost should have some sort of explanations to why they give the score that they do but this would destroy the fast pace we are used to.

Instead of working on a “easier” trick and making a perfect version of that trick with as much style as possible it feels like for a lot of skiers like for example some of the Swiss skiers The trend has become to just try to make as “hard” trick as possible. I just feel like it has become way to much of a spin to win comp and that we should try to work for the game to change. Style should score higher than spins!

I totally get what you’re saying and I think it’s a good idea in theory. However in F1 there is a bigger disparity in results because the car is so important. Skiing doesn’t have quite the difference between skis. Also, everyone gets front and center attention. Whereas, F1 drivers can maybe be overlooked in the middle of the pack with a car with a slower pace.

I like the idea, I just don’t know how it would be implemented without idiots voting on something they don’t understand

Maybe if there was a quiz you had to fill out to be allowed to vote. If it is just open like last time we'd end up with the majority of people voting who have no idea what they are even looking at.

Didn’t know there were so many fellow f1 fans on NS. As someone said I think it would be cool if it was like a side thing that didn’t impact the actual rankings. Like even in f1 if it’s a boring race 9/10 Max Verstappen or Lewis Hamilton is taking driver of the day.

Came in here to post that. Shit was super whack. Please never do fan voting again.

Sometimes tou agree with the judges, sometimes you don't but him beating out PK hunders sick ass axis dub 10 was a crime against humanity. Please, never again. I think even simon knew that was some bullshit.

Possibly the worst robbery in the history of big air. Agreed, never again.

That being said, I would fully support a side winner where viewers can vote for the People's Champ like in Real Ski

I think it’s good that Mr edollo decided not to do the slopestyle. We as fans has often been mad over the scores but to have one of the best actually show that he thinks there’s something wrong I think is really good and necessary if we want it to get better.

I think Jesper tjäder got robed on the knuckle huck sadly he deserves a medal. I think he’s one of the best skiers in the game with mad control and I don’t think he gets enough recognition!

People’s champ would be a good idea. That’s kind of how it is in the F1 “driver of the day”. It doesn’t really impact anything.

I guess for people’s champ it should have something tied to it because skiers usually don’t have the resources that an F1 driver does. Like a prize purse or something

I was fine with henrik dropping slope but he shouldn't have competed in knuckle huck since he dropped slope

I like how RealSki has had a traditional judge voted medalists but also includes a "Fan Favorite" who gets some award/compensation as well.

(That said LJ still got robbbbbbbed in 2017)
