what is the best camera from the sony dcr trv series for its price. im thinking of getting one. maybe the trv950

i like to burn things

i can do a summersault

dont get the trv950 under any circumstances, its a good cam and all, but you are getting a high level consumer cam with the 950, but if you are looking to spend that much, save up for a prosumer cam, like a gl1 or 2, or a vx1000 or 2000, it is much more worth it

What? Did that make sense to anyone? Don't get the 950, but get the 950??

I'm looking at camcorders myself - budget maybe $1250. I've seen the Panasonic GS70 (reccomended in another thread). It's 3CCD and only about $1000. Will a 3CCD beat any 1CCD hands-down?

yeah dude, if you are looking to spend that much jsut get a little more cash and get the GL2 you can get good packages from cannon where you get like wideshot lenses, close-up lenses, and cases and junk like that, that sux to buy afterwards

The GL2 is your best bet. Its not much more than the TRV950 and its a lot better. You don't really need all the fancy lenses and stuff when you first get your camera so if you don't want to spend the money I say just get the camera with the essentials like battery, case, tripod and such.

i buy the video camera that can hook up to a computer

all of the cameras that where mentioned are Mini DV cameras or in ^your case 'cameras that you cant hook up to your computer' but go with the GL2

Not everyone can afford a GL2, I'm sure we would all have one if we could, but that is the thing trying to find a good DV cam for cheaper than a GL2.

bambam, sorry bout that, im retarded at times. basically heres the market you guys are looking at, high level consumer 1 ccd, high level consumer 3 ccd (like that panasonic bambam mentioned) and prosumer 3 ccd, like the vx and gl series. now mine along with most action sports videographers opinion, is that if you are saving up the money to get a cam above a grand or so, save up and buy a prosumer 3 ccd new, or just buy a used one with whatever money you have. this is because if you get the consumer versions, you will realize they dont have the customizability and other options you will want, and you will out grow these consumer cameras quickly.

and if you dont like my opinion, the best ski movie ive seen so far, strike 3, was shot on prosumer 3ccds, primarily a vx2000
