alright me and a bunch of friends are planning on making a video this year, but before we start is there tips you guys have? like should there be more than one person with a camera taping? and what about certain footage? another prob i have is i do not have Windows Xp so i dont have windows movie editor so are there any free downloadable movie editors out there? thanks for the help.

-i posted this in the ski gabber area and a friend told me to post in here said i would get some good info, also please rember this is mine and my friends first attempt at a vid thanks.

 
For pc the your only real choice is between Premier Pro and Avid, but I'm not sure what other OS they run on besides windows XP. What operating system do you have? I use Premier pro 7.0 cause it runs a lot better than Avid and it's alot similar to fcp. The ideal setup is a g4 or g5 with fcp hd.

And with filming, in most cases the more filmers the better, cause that way you can get bangers from all differnt angles without having to film them again. But also the more filmers, the more footy your gona have to deal with organizing and editing so it can get more complicated. Also it's easy to get in each other's way.

Also it depends what kind of production you want to make. If your just messing around and want to put together a little clip, any 1chip minidv cam will work and pretty much any editing app, even if they suck like WMM or gay-movie (imovie). You can download Premier Pro, Final Cut Pro etc (illegal dl's of course) for free and save a lot.

But if your up to putting something together that people will really want to watch, you should invest in a 3chip cam, you can get a used vx1000, vx2k or gl2 on ebay for a pretty good price. And a decent editing system. Good luck.

buy yourself some patience too cause right now i'm editing a rollerblading and skating movie and its sooo long but its also alot of fun...and we'll do a skiing and snowboarding movie this year too..we are editing it at school ith a mac with final cut pro..if you can find a mac somewhere do it with that you cant find anything better

alright, but what kind of camera do you use to get your footage because all these awesome ones taht the people tell me to get i really dont have 2,000$ sitting around for a sony VX1000

The reviews say that cannon opturas and ZR90s are like 300-400$ cheaper than the panasonic 3CCD and get better color. I would go with the optura if you have a little more cash.

i really dont have a 2000$ worth cam i have a sony hi-8 it sucks but it does the job...but it sucks...and so is how we ride but shooting and editing a video is so fun

another editing program you can use on pc if your just startinbg out if pinnacle studio 9, very very cheap,EASY to use, watch my videos, thats what i use. if your a little more experienced go with pinnacle liquid edition, or any other programs mentioned above. oh yah another advanced one is Vegas 4.0 made by sonic foundry.

follow cams - use a lower quality cam cause you really dont wanna fuck up a good one

lol you guys don't know what your talking about. dont get the optura or zr series theyre horrible. Ebay is the way to go if you dont have a lot cash. And you can download the ISO (virtual cd) of Premier Pro 7.0 from Overnet. If you give me 15 bucks I'll ship a perfect copy of premier pro 7.0 with the serial included.

so what are some good cameras to look for on ebay for like $400? (yes i'm lazy and i don't want to spend hours on the internet looking for my best choices).

let me rephrase that.....what camera SHOULDN'T i get in the $400 range on ebay?
