You guys stress how much you want us to use your uploader, yet there is no attempt to actually have people look IN THE VIDEO SECTION. seriously, its ridiculous how few views and comments videos get that arent posted in the forums nowadays. i dont particularly want to start making threads about every video i make, after all, i thought thats why we have the video section.

Seriously we arent asking for a revamp of the video section, just one simple thing, delete video posts from the forums (excluding media and arts critiques, obviously). if people continue to post them in the forums anyways, ban them for a day. It seems a little contradictory to stress us using NS's video section, but then not force people to utilize it.
 
what is this "video" section you speak of? Holy shit, what's next? picture galleries without endless saga gear in the jump section?
 
Even if the uploader is fixed it won't change the traffic that goes to the vid section. I don't know I think the vid section is one of the best parts of the site, but people are more concerned with post count...
 
Precisely. I am not asking for any change in coding. I just want video's to be posted in the video section, and not elsewhere.
 
the video uploader also needs to show a percentage of how much has been uploaded.

I remember back in the day when videos would get hundreds of views if not at least a thousand no matter what. but that could also be because there are so manyy more videos uploaded now that people don't venture past the first page.
 
Seriously were now going to allow "underrated edit" threads? Why dont we just delete the video section, it no longer serves a purpose then.

I still don't understand why people post videos in the forum while we have a category that's meant for videos.
 
The video section NEEDS to be fixed. I used to upload about a video a month and have not had a chance to upload a single video this year because of the piece of shit of an uploader. I am trying to support NS, but it is hard when i have an edit from winter break that i am still trying to upload. I might just have to go to Vimeo and embed if i can get it up soon. The video section is the last part of NS that i feel is still keeping to the roots of skiing and not the gay bullshit that the 13 year old bring to this site.
Anybody have any tips to getting the uploader to work, like mac or pc, firefox or safari? I feel like i have tried them all. My video will upload for half an hour, then the page will reload. HELP NS!
 
The uploader fucking blows. I've tried 5 different times, all at different times of the day, on a good computer with a good internet connection to upload a video and it simply won't. That horrible excuse for an upload progress bar pops up and says it's going, then 20 mins later when I check on it the box has gone away and my screen shows the original upload page like I never even chose a file to upload!! I would love to have all my videos hosted by NS, but it's kind of an issue when I can't even upload the file.
 
Bump again, because its getting even more out of hand.

Seriously. Absolutely nothing needs to be done to the existing video section. Just start deleting the countless edit threads.
 
And tell people who are remotely hosting to use the proper embed these huge ass ones that don't fit the screen are a real piss off.
 
I LIKE it. Some vigilante newschoolers policing. This makes me want to see that pan out instead of actually addressing the problem. :)

Seriously though, the issue is that all of these issues are linked together. Can't fix one without fixing 'em all.

I swear - eventually there will be an update that will address what you're talking about.

However until that time... I say autoplay rebecca black is the answer.

 
I'm on it. Rebecca Black scroll bombing should solve it. You can't read the thread with 40 playlist.com widgets, and you can't hit stop on all of them!
 
Nice little talk to Ski_Unit_19 and he says we should just link the thread to a mod. Not sure how well that will go but who knows. Mods really hate that music, and hate even more trying to find it, I understand that. Just thought I would point it out.
 
most DEFINITELY a repost but as of now when can we expect any sort of update for the video section? just wanna know ill, be patient untill whenever.
 
You know what? Thread terrorism probably is annoying. Maybe I got a little ahead of myself. :)

Here's a question... why is it so bad to discuss a video in the forums?

 
If the forums become the place to watch and comment on videos, then people won't have a reason to head over to the video section. While the people who do put videos in forums can hope for a bunch of feedback, people who stay in the video section can expect to see less views, ratings, and comments.
 
I don't say discussing a video is bad, but there is a line on what should be posted. A proooooooooos video can be posted, like the TC or ARcast, but your season edits, day in the park edits don't belong. That should stay in the video section. Edit Critique in M and A that is o.k too.

Like said above it is ski gabber not post you're vids gabber. That is what the video section is designed for.

Throughout this season the video section has been getting less and less traffic. Back in September-October I would get around 1,000 views. Then as time went on I would get less views with each new video I posted. Now I've reached the point where I get only about 100 views per edit.

Not that my edits are at all anything special but it was nice to get feedback.
 
bingo... and if we all start posting in our edits in ski gabber its gonna be a shitshow. but i didnt really even need to say that.
 
transworld has the ability to quote video comments and reply specifically, maybe this is the type of thing that should be added to ns as then you could personally address comments you may/may not agree with
 
agreed. make the video section comments more forum-like. i understand this is not something that is simple, but something to add to the list.
