Maybe this is just me but I find that the NS player and Slvsh player are drastically worse than YouTube and Vimeo. Find myself constantly having to wait for video's on Slvsh and NS to load and it's goddamn frustrating. Whereas on YouTube or Vimeo, it seems there's no issue at all. Anybody else feel similar?

SLVSH used to use just a branded Vimeo player, perhaps that is now different.

As for us, we're in the process of upgrading the shit out of everything so I'm hoping that some of these load times are reduced. The player works great for some people but others have issues like you.

Is it all the time that those videos are slower or is it only certain videos?

SLVSH is also confirmed using a Vimeo player.

So either both Vimeo and SLVSH are slow for you or there's some sort of other problem here...

Not positive on this but I think the SLVSH vimeo player defaults to 1080p with no way to change the resolution.

Newschoolers has always been a slower video player for me, but I've always figured that's because you guys probably stream at a higher bitrate per resolution than YT and Vimeo?

It's a mixture of the fact that they stream vs load and have progressive bit rates depending on connection speed.

For me when I try to watch videos it'll play a second or two of the video sped up, pause for a second, skip through the next couple seconds, pause, speed through the next couple seconds and so on. This happens specifically on chrome (Mac 10.12.3) and it doesn't matter what wifi I'm on(school, home, other home - it's all choppy).

All the time or only specific videos?

This is correct! We're planning on implementing resolution options in the future, but for now anything put out by SLVSH will default at 1080p.

All the time for me. Then again I've only attempted to watch a handful of videos in the past couple days. One that comes to mind right now is the misty to backflip video specifically.

I always have to wait for newschoolers to load a video just for it to take me to the youtube potral. Its kind of annoying. And I don't have an old computer... i have a custom built one with a fx 8350 at 4 ghz and a gtx 970. My internet is 100mbps down.

Literally happens on every single video for both SLVSH and NS. I thought it could have been network issues but I ran a few speed tests and even on high download rate networks it's still an issue.

Only on these two, It also happens on my phone. Writing finals right now but after I probably could.

yeah that video was so laggy it was insane. I could hardly make out the rotation

We did make a bunch of changes to the encoders last week. We might have fixed it.

Mingg - is it working for you now too?
 
love the updated video player on here. i used to hate watching videos on here cause they would either take for ever to load or just but super low quality

We literally just upgraded everything. Servers, Encoders, CDN, Player - the whole nine yards. In theory, things should be MUCH better now, but we were pushing out updates to this over the last few weeks so it might have taken a bit of time to notice.

NS player is now a thousand times better, but the slvsh player still is garbage for me, running on a new computer and >150MBs internet
