Video of 351 foot drop

haha yeh... it's an almost too convenient time to lose the shot. makes you question the integrity of the clip. is this drop 'officially' the world record or is it still pierre's?

yeah what the fuck?

if you are going to do a 350 foot suicidal drop wouldnt you make absolutely sure you got it from multiple angles and at very least ON film?

i dont even know what i would do in that situation. chargin hard down a face then all the sudden what you though was a small cliffs is a huge 300 footer. amazing

Thanks for posting. I hadn't seen the narrated vid either. From what I read it was an accident, a lucky one, he strayed from his line. Although strayed quite a bit, I'd say. That was like the smallest exit in the area, so it looks to me like he was way off. Positive vibes to that whole crew, pretty scary to have been a part of.

i bungy jumped the second highest bungy in the world (134m). it was like diving forever while you knew that you would be splatted all over the ground if you werent attached to something. now he just jumped a cliff 27m lower that that, not THAT huge... and he walked away from it. WHAT THE FUCK?

yeah in the original story it made it sound like it was cloudy. I also didnt think that they got any video based on the original story.

Ugh, half a repost, but im not mad atchya for that.

Stop celebrating this bullshit, if the guy dies that video doesn't see the light of day and everyone goes to jail for manslaughter. Not really, but its brutal to put out this shit where a guy makes a shitty irresponsible mistake and almost dies. I hope someone deletes this thread.

because of his mistake, skiers are going to start pushing themselves even more because they now know that hucking a 300ft cliff is within the realm of possibility.

leave now.

If a skier can come out of a 351ft drop un-scathed, you don't think others will be raising their brows thinking they can do it too?

our sport is always pushing the envelop, and sometimes its "accidents" like this that help take it to the next level.

words of wisdom.

Yes the progession of skiing is being pushed in every direction but im not sure the ones pushing the envelope of our sport would intentionaly do that. But who knows. Maby McConkey is hitting that right now in heaven. SIP shane

so you're going to go ahead and tell me that it didn't take talent for him to maintain his composure and stay in perfect form when he sent that cliff?

10 years ago the JOI jump would have been considered "insane" for most, but it is those select few (insane) visionaries who have transformed our beautiful sport into what it is today.

I do not disagree with the fact that this guy was incredibly stupid and irresponsible for making that kind of mistake, but the fact that he manned up and sent it probably saved his life, and he sure made Jamie Pierre look like a buffoon for his previous "record" (when he landed on his side/head)

Yea, my thoughts exactly.
I've definitely gotten lost in a line before, but when you're talking about terrain that could easily spell death, you'd think that guy would have been a biiiiiit more careful. Incredible.
I guess the only thing that I could see explain away the mistake was the fact that the approach was so long, and devoid of really ANY visual land marks. Anyway, glad he made it out ok.
As far as this "pushing the envelope" or "paving the way" as some other people have suggested, that's crazy talk.

im not celebrating it or saying it was great. Just had not seen this video. If anything I would think if people had just a little intelligence this video would make people be more careful when skiing big mountain. Not everyone can be this lucky. I don't know about you but this video makes me realize how dangerous and unpredictable the backcountry can be. If a pro skier can make this big of a mistake how big of mistake would I make.

oops my bad, i watched it without sound i thought it was a different guy who did it on purpose. thanks for the 5 people who told me.

Fail.

this isnt backcountry, this is heli in wherever the fuck they are with massive crazy mountains and he didnt have a fucking clue. this is retarded and I stand by my comment.

had he skied away think about how amazing that shot would have been. especially when the heli was circlin around the cliff and he would have been skiin away at the bottom

insane and also one of my biggest fears skiing in the backcountry. skiing off something i havent scoped out and no my general landing area

uh... that is back country you fucking retard. are you really serious with that comment? i hope not or else youre gonna have to talk to your mom about her meth usage when she was pregnant with you.
