Video Cameras

I have a Panasonic SDR-H85.

The quality isn't amazing on it, but it's good when you use manual settings. (Very simple on this model.) It's not too expensive. It's got 78x optical zoom (If you zoom in on the moon, you can see all it's craters and stuff) and it takes pictures which are pretty nice quality. It shoots in standard definition though.

It also gets around 2:30 of battery time.

Here's the CNET review:http://reviews.cnet.com/digital-camcorders/panasonic-sdr-h85-blue/4505-6500_7-33976234.html

I don't think it's manufactured anymore though. You can still find it on amazon/ebay.

Best wishes!

the most id like to pay is like $1000 cuz i dont want it to be too complex and im new with this stuff, i have other people film me

Canon 550D/t2i is okay..I own it and enjoy it..it gets a little costly with all the add ons and things u buy for it but I like it

Some people use t2is, t3is.... My personal favorite to use is the Canon 60D, if you plan on skiing with it you should grab a glide cam. Also, a decent lens usually helps.

he said not too complex, so i'd say maybe something from the vixia line or the tm700 from panasonic with a decent tripod set up, a dslr sounds like more than he wants to me.

sony handycam or canon vixia

diy handle

tripod for steady shots

wide angle lens (adapter?)

cheap, basic, and makes for a good follow cam if you want to be able to see your shots immediately after or on the chairlift between laps.

Panasonic AG-DVX100 it's a fantastic camera with plenty of manual settings you can start teaching yourself to use. You could find a used one for less than 1000 easy.

If you want this I have a friend who's looking to sell his. You could probably snag it for 800-900.

Only problem with the dvx is that its SD, which is a dead technology. I wouldn't recommend a SD camera, you'll be wanting that high quality HD image and the dvx just wont fullfil that want.
