Anyone know anything about the video cameras?? i am thinking about buying one but which one is good for editing? is it the regular, digital, or even the DVD cameras. What company do you perfer?

i like sony's stuff and digital is the best because you could put it right onto our computer, i also heard that those dvd cameras pieces of shit

 
If you are going to edit, you want Mini DV. Sony, panasonic and canon all make pretty good cameras which i would recommend. depending on how much you want to spend i can give you some specefic recommendations

 
I'm getting a Canon Optura 300 in the next couple of days cause based on everything I've read, it seems to be the best MiniDV cam that isn't super expensive (GL2 price) plus its tiny as fuck!

 
the DVD cameras seem like they'd be a good idea. Just put the DVD in your computer and drag the files over to your computer. To bad they don't work that way. First you have to close the DVD and that takes 10 minutes. Then the DVD will only work in some computers. You can upload the footage with USB 2.0 but you can't use firewire. It's rediculous. Go mini-dv or digital8. The only plus with digital8 is that you get more camera for your money. Mini-DV is way smaller.

dvd cameras are gay dont buy one. It depends on how much your willing to spend. I have the Sony VX1000 which cost $3200 so the resolution, audio, exposure and quality are pimped out. Just dont get one of those 600 dollar shit cameras from bestbuy even if it looks cool to you. Sony PD150, Cannon Gl2 and Sony vx series are all top cameras can you find some good deals on them used.

 
I have read some more shit on the internet about them, and i was for sure going with the miniDV cameras. they sound like they are the best

I just got a Canon Optura 300 minidv cam the other day and it's siiick. DEFINITELY recommend at least looking at it.

 
if you dont have the money for a gl2 get and optura xi, thye rule and the quality is awesome its not as good as the gl2 but its still awesome and it takes great stills too. i love mine

ya LCD screens are useless for that, and they drain your batteries really quickly

no i mean, my friend was doing a follow cam while my other friend skated and cause it was shaking so mch it screwed up badly

Sonys are ok if theres lots of light out if theres no sun and grey skis then you get shitty video. Make sure whatever you buy has a 'Firewire port' (so you can actually trasnfer full quality video onto your computer not a shitty usb connection) and interchangeable lens, LENS are more important than what type of camera you are buying. As for editing I prefer Adobe Preimiere 6.5 and if possible always use a mac to edit your media. I highly recomend Canon and i use anything buy Fugifilm, fujis film just seems to love the colors of life. Dont spend to much aka over $1000 if you are make sure you have a 3-ccd chip and its broadcast quality otherwise your getting ripped off.

alrighty i picked up a panasonic camera on the weekend, a mini dv, but i cant get a video to upload on my computer, i am getting mad!! does anyone here know what my problem could be, i havent gotten the fire wire yet. I am getting that in the next couple of weeks

get a canon if ur just starting to edit they are cheap if u get like a zr 60 or somthing and they are pretty good quality

you need a firewire port and cable unless you have an high 8 then u would need a capture card you might have to install the driver you left a vague discription tho so im not sure cuz i had trouble getting mine to work too

no dont buy the cannon zr60 its the cheapass camera my school has the audio is terrible and the colors, balence and picture blow
