Video cameras

you can find the GL2 for under 2 grand if you look hard enough! check out froogle.com- i'm sure there's something on there.
 
Unless you're going to get the Panasonic AGV100 and shoot 24P, there aren't a lot of cameras that will make your "video look sick".

Better quality cameras will give you better quality results, but you gotta pay for it. 3chip DV cameras with manual controls and the knowledge of how to use them is what you're looking for. You can get some good cameras for cheap if you know what you're doing and your cautious and smart... Sony's VX-2000, VX-1000, are good "prosumer" cameras that are available used. The Sony TRV-900 was a decent camera, but not very rugged... $1500 new in 2000, so can be had for $750 or less now. Save the money, buy a tripod and a good fisheye and take the time to really learn how to light and compose your shots.
