Video camera?

ive been wanting a video camera for awhile and i search bared and i saw a canon optrua 20 is good and i found one for cheap but my budget is $300 tops so if anyone could give me some help in the right direction
 
Good question...i film alot and i use a sony hdr5 and i love it...i would go with sony..but whatever you get if i were you i would get somthing that films with mini dv. It may seem like older technology but alot of hd camras use them. Mini dv are really good for fast past filming because mini dv dont compress your image its a natural picture and it looks way better when ypu upload to your computer. Flash memory cards and other memoery sticks all compress your image and when it finaly gets to your computer it looks like shit so i would go with the any camra with mini dv. aslo look for used camras you can get hd camras that have been used twice for half the price. thank +karma and if you record on minidv can you delete wats on it and rerecord on it and minidvs are just disks that go in the computer right
 
No mini dv are like casset tapes they seem like way old technolgy but there super good..this years best rated camra (canon vivixa hv30) which is like 1200 dollers uses mini dv. The only bad part about mini dv tapes are that you have to film over old footage but if you upload them to your computer you have them forever or you can go buy more there only like 10 bucks for 3 of them and they hold like a hour and half of film
 
why even bother with the mindv?
what about the hf10?whats so good about minidv?i have the hf10 and love it
 
Yeah, I'm in the same boat kinda. I'm probably gonna get one for christmas, but my folks aren't loaded, and aren't gonna be willing to spend more than $500 or so. And they wouldn't be looking for a used cam. If it helps the thread creator at all, are there good ones new that are in that range? Or if not, what is the best one in that price range.

if you look you can find lots of nice cameras in the 500 and under range but its hard for the 300 and under but i think i found the one i want
 
Umm to the guys wondring why mini dv well if you didnt read my explataion here you go mini dv dont compress the image and its really good for fast past filimg memory stick compress the image and it looks super sketchand blurry once you get it to your comuter.....Hey i also would wait tell this friday (black Friday) All the stores put there shit on sale for x mas i would go look around for marked down camras
