i gotta question for anyone who knows a lot about video cameras and lense. I'm proley getting a video camera for my birthday and i don't know a lot about cameras i was wondering what are some good lenses to get for skiing purposes. If anyone that isn't a dick would like to respond please do

wide angle lenses, make lousy cameramen shoot sick pictures.

get one...

it widens the whole area that you can film (you can point it very close to someone's face and still get his whole head on the shot)

it's easy for followshots, just point the camera in the approximate direction of the skier and you can be sure you have him on tape without even have to look on your screen

in wide angle lenses fisheyes or a semi fisheye is also very cool, it rounds the edges of what you film (make straight objects look bent)

semi fisheye is what i use for practicly everything

oh yeah that'd be way easier i've been doin fallow cams without any lenses just the camera so thanks

Yeah.... get a super wide fisheye lense. you can get them for like 50 bucks on ebay, and they're killer.

iight ... first of all u need a good camera ... now most ill cameras are over a grand ... but if you go on ebay .. u should be able to get a gl1 by canon for about 700 ... here's a link to one on ebay .. http://cgi.ebay.com/Canon-Gl1-Camera-video-camera-3CCD-CHEAP-GREAT-DEAL_W0QQitemZ250017023274QQihZ015QQcategoryZ43434QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem ..... i have a gl2 and the thing is the shit ... im using an mx3000 semi fish i lens ... i bought it for like 80 .. it works realyy good ... incase u dont know what a fishye does ... it allows you to see more from all angles .. for instance .. if i were to hold the lens right next to your face ... the lens would allow me to see the upper half your body ... so in skiing instance .... you could be right behind a skier with your camera ... but still be filming his whole body ... since i have the lens .. i dont even have to look at the screen .. i already know that its gettin everything i want on film .... but my advice is ... try and buy a gl1 or gl2 from ebay ... or maybe a vx2000 or 2100 .. and if you get them ... i suggest an raynox mx3000 semi-fish lens ... be good bro ... good luck filming

well your going to want to practice with whatever lense you get, and learnto use it. Id suggest a wideangle, fisheyes generally have to much barrel distortion (the curling of the picture on the edge). Find out what camera you are getting and the thread size. A nice lense will b around 100 new, most others for less arent worth it. Let us know what cam you are planning on getting and ill help jah out. Also check out skateperception.com it is ballin

Stay away from wide-angle, fisheye, or death lens untill you're totally familar with the camera you have, and have used it many many many times.

I HATE wide-angle with very few exceptions. I think it looks like shit most of the time, and is way over used.

Dont waste your money on a fisheye, drop in on a 35mm adaptor! If you wana get a wide angle, get one without distortion (what a fisheye looks like). Fisheyes are dope, but u gotta know how to use them right. Id say buy a camera and learn to shoot some good long lens before you invest money into lenses. Oh yah, buy and HVX200 i hear they are ok ;)

haha thats a REAL beginner-friendly setup.

fuck fisheyes. I only shit fisheyes on film, never digi. for digi, I always shoot long lens cause digi fisheyes are overused and I hate them. poo.

get a wide angle, they are much better.
