I'm thinking about make season edits (Summer and Winter) on my inactive YouTube channel. Not for publicity, I'm not good, but more for myself to look back on. I have some cash to spend and was wondering what type of camera I should get. I am collecting footage for my trampoline/summer edit on my iPhone but the quality is shit when put on a computer. My price range stops at 500, but it all depends on the camera itself. I don't want a huge camera to lug around on the slopes. For the winter the camera needs to be able to resist some snow. Please help a skier out and give some suggestions. Other advice for the edits like editing software or anything else is much appreciated.

I would suggest a GoPro if you're just looking for an easy to carry around, versatile camera. I rock a Hero 4 Silver attached to a feiyu-tech g4 gimbal and the shots I get from that are clean. But if you want more of a DSLR style camera, a Canon t5i would get your feet wet in that discipline; more flexibility if you're looking to have more control over your shoots/easier to add external devices (Microphones, Lighting). I owned a t5i before upgrading to an 80D and each of which I have done shots in the snow/rain, just don't leave them out to soak and keep ports closed and you will be fine as far as that is concerned. Hero 5's are water resistant and you can get a water resistant gimbal to match it as well if you are really concerned about water damage.
