Video cam. help

My school is looking to buy 4 or 5 video cams, and 4 or 5 mics for said video cams, and some how i got put in charge of this. I have no idea about any of this further than 1080p and type of storage medium. I have 1 to 2 g's to spend so nothing to extravagant obviously, and if the cam picked up mediocre audio then ill have no need for the mics.

I'd say a couple Pasonic gs-320's and a couple Canon Hv20's... as for mics, I got no Idea what to get
 
HV20's would be good cameras if you absolutely need HD. DVC30's are very nice cameras and inexpensive.
