How good is Hi 8 as far as editing goes?

lower quality, go to miniDV. No.. nix that, go to 16 mm and edit all by hand.

haha idk about hte 16mm. Yea the DV sounded like a nice option, but the money thing is a problem. so two things then...

1. is there anyway that i can do to enhance the resolution in the editing process - or am i just plain screwed?

2. if i can get the option to go to DV - what would be a good camera for a good price.

and for you editor pros - which would be a good video card to get for editing film and such. parents are getting me a new computer, god bless their souls. (going alienware)

whenever i have to use high8 i put it in with The Dazzler or whatever its called, and its decent quality but nothing compared to MiniDV

hey freeskifro i use the dazzler too... what is this mini dv.. cuz im always looking to up the quality on my vids...

if you wanna go mini dv it really depends on how much money you want to spend...with out a doubt the best mini dv cameras for around 1000$ are the sony trv 19-22-and 33 series...Sony is just the best for lenses, technology and quality in the video stream...there are the other brands like canon, jvc, panasonic but they just dont compare to the sony's quality in low light situations...if you really wanna spend some cash like 3-5 thousand $ then the jvc GR-HD1U is a great action/sports camera as well as the Canon GL2 which is sick!

 
the only way that you will have a good edit session with 8mm is if its Digital8. Then you won't have to upgrade to miniDV. But if it's just high8 then go drop the cash or you'll have nothing but shitty footy and a crappy movie. High8 BLOWS!!!!!!!

 
Get a used camera from eBay. I just got an XM1 (GL1) with light, batteries and case for £1000 UK (retails at £1700 over here). Definately good deals to be had there.
