hello everyone! i am looking for some vid editing software. i was looking at reviews online and it seems that powerdirector seems to be pretty good. i have a pc, a dell if that makes a difference. i dont need anything professional, just to edit ski movies for me and my friend and the kids i coach and for family stuff. thank you for your input! it is greatly appreciated.

I know a few people who run Adobe Premier to edit their video and they love it... I don't have any personal experience with it though.

i use final cut and after effects. they make AE for windows, but i dont think final cut. maybe try sony vegas or adobe premier.

and there is always a way around high prices, remember that ;)

I've been using PremierePro CS3 for about 2 months now and I'm absolutely in love with it. Definitely look into some of the Adobe products; they're top notch for PC. As far as I know you can't run Final Cut on a PC, so the only top notch competition is Premiere. Since you're not doing any serious editing (like me) I would reccommend hacking it somehow. The program itself is expensive. It also helps if you have good RAM and a video card, but that's beside the point

Good luck! :)

thank you all so much i really apperciate all your imput! im looking into adobe stuff now. does anyone know how premire pro compaers tp premire elements? thank you again!

You don't need a terabyte of external storage and you can pick up a quad-core processor for $200 nowadays. Not sure where having a dual-monitor systems comes into play at all with performance... it just adds convenience. Not to mention the fact that 500gb hard drives are only about $100 now anyway. That is NOT that expensive.

i use Windows Movie Maker. You can't go wrong. It comes with windows XP and Vista, its not hard to use but it has all the features you would want. Also, if you need to edit your vid on another computer, you don't have to worry if they do or don't have some expensev program, if they have windows, they should have movie maker, which is why its the most conveinent.

yah but whenever I see anything that has those notorious WMM titles I just think it is an absolute joke

and I would say Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 it's amazing and you can torrent it and is pretty simple to pick up on just it has a lot of advanced shit that if you know what it does you can use it but mostly if you mess around with it for a couple days you'll get it

Ha After Effects is for animation and Motion Graphics buddy! Vegas? meh. Premier if you have a PC, and FCP if you have a Mac.

But i will agree After Effects is a great program.

yea i got it from a torrent and had no clue how to use it at first. actually i gave up on it. anybody have a god instruction video?

i use primere and after effects, but theyre more pro programs, i would have trouble if i hadnt "built up" to them. My first editing was with wmm, than i used roxio somethin, pinnacle studio and finally went adobe (i actually just bought the cs3 master suite for the web stuff but now i cant live wo primere). The roxio software came free with a external cd burner i bought, see if you can get something like that (it was a LaCie burner btw)

Yo i know AAE isnt exactly video editing software, but cant you run clips in the background, and play around with evolution to make cool intros?
