You can get low end 3CCD cams for about 700, check J and R muscic work or do some reseach online, and if you cant aford that i recomend a Canon ZR model or something similar (thats what i used before i got my Gl2)

Oh also, can you hook up a helmet cam to the zr series and how do you get the mini-DV footy on the comp? is it windows movie maker compatible? whats the best editing software?
 
im pretty sure you can hook up a helmet cam to every dv cam on the market right now. Yes windows movie maker is compatible. you connect ur cam to the cpu with a fire wire cabla that is invluded. if you dont have a fire wire output, buy a firewire card.

Fial Cut pro HD is the best editing program available.

adobe premeire is the best for pc
 
yeah but if your a beginner, you may want to start off with something like pinnacle, easy to use and minidv compatable
 
ok thanks so now im lookin at the samsung scx105l. It comes with a helmetcam, 512mb internal memory, its small, $500 bucks. does anyone have this camera? If so, what do you think? It looks like the best option for me so far, but if it sucks, then well...
 
tru ive been trying to look into vid cams for a whiel, but im broke and dont have the money to dish out for a good one
