Vicious/Big troubles

K, time for new skis, ordering them this weekend. My plan was to buy the Big Troubles but I just thought of the Seth Vicious. I've heard the big troubles are pretty stiff which I like alot. My question is... Are the vicious' stiff? If so, stiff compared to what other skis. Thanks guys.

The Vicious is not stiff at all. Its actually very soft, but it skis just like a stiffer ski would through. It busts through crud like a stiff ski, is stable like a stiff ski, but it gives you the float of a softer ski. The Scratch BC seem like it fall right inbetween both of the skis. I have never skied it though.

And actually, stiff would be the wrong word. Stable is probably what I'm looking for. The explosiv's would just chatter and bounce around too much. Is that gona be a problem with the Seth's? Depierre, thanks for the quick response, you gave me a good answer.

I didnt find the Seths to chatter, or get deflected in the crud often. They were also very stable for me. It may also be because I'm 135lbs and was on 179s.

2 classic examples of an ns response..no reason and totally not related to the thread.ill bump it so maybe you can get opinions from other people..if not tgr will give you some good info/comparisons

I haven't ridden the vicious, but I think the big troubles are exactly what you're looking for, They are a good size, and not too stiff. They can rip it on everything too. You should talk to Volklpro, I think those are his primary skis

I don't like the Big Troubles too much...if you are interested in big mountain skis, I would HEAVILY suggest the Legend Pro from Dynastar, or the Seth Vicious.

I have ridden both, though my day to day ski is the K2 Made'n.

Legends are stiffer...but a really amazing ski.

What will you be using this ski for? If it's more all mountain skiing, SV will be great. If you already have an all-mountain or park ski and just want to rip some big lines, look into Legend Pros, you won't be let down.

Also, I weigh 185 as well. I skied the 189 Vicious and found them to be perfect.

haha, well I AM looking at Seth Vicious, hence the title of the thread. I'd get the 179 though, cause I have 2 blown out knees and when I ski skis longer than 185, the torque hurts alot. I'm lookin for an all mountain ski that can tear through the trees. I've heard the Big Troubles are a super heavy, so I duno bout them.

I'm skiing Big Troubles in Whistler this year. I'm 6'4, 185lbs and I love them for powder and drops. In the park, they're a little bit stiff I think, and one delammed after my first day hitting big kickers. Dynastar wouldn't warranty them - they said it has happened a lot, so if you're going big in the park then maybe look for something else. Awesome ski out of the park though, so stable and smooth, and the tips and tails are higher than most other fat twintips.

I have the seths, and the are the best ski I have ever ridden. Stable, fast, good edge hold. goes everywhere. I love them. However, I was crusing down a a groomer and hit a huge chunk of ice left by a groomer and the tip snapped a little bit... not really the skis fault so K2 is warrentying the ski which is great.. but im going out west next week and i needed a fat ski so the guy at the place where i bought the skis is lending me his 175 big troubles so if you can wait till say the 25th of this month ill pm you with a comparison between the two, and let you kno what I think.

thanks man, i appreciate it. I'll be ordering them this weekend though. For super cheap, so I won't be down 650 or 700 or whatever. Sounds like the Seth's win right now.

I also have the Seth's and am about 180 lbs. super stable, and very fast ski. I think you would be happy with it.
