Vermont Backcountry

I can't tell you anything about Killington other than the one time I was there, they had some serious POW and the trees were super fun that day

Stowe has some quality backcountry spots off the gondie that'd be worth the trip. The rock garden, which is if you hike up to the top of Mansfield, and Angel Food which is an actual backcountry trail that ends up on the crossroad from Stowe to Smuggs. I know Stowe and Smuggs pretty well and you can basically just explore off-mountain terrain, and 9 times out of 10 its really dope with good snow.

Magic Mountain can be real fun when it gets a lot of snow. Most of the mountain is left ungroomed, at least it was when I skied it last back in 2011.

That other time you'll most likely end up cliffed out. :)

Forgot about Jay, probably the best pow skiing I’ve done besides Alta, spent a few days there and was blown away on the first.

Yeah it's great up at jay... only thing is it's not a secret anymore, everyone knows about Jay. But that's everywhere now you just gutta wake up earlier.

Yeah I pretty much skied alone which is kinda bad, but I just remember the best glade ever. Lotta trees but it was easy to float around them, and really nice drops.

Only 3 days til I can touch snow again and I’m losing my mind

Same here dude. Killington on Saturday.

I've found a bunch of stuff out there just poking around. Carinthia used to have the "Stove". You can ski Proctorsville Gulch if you dare. There is also Cousin Eddy's further to the north. I've even pulled off of Rte 100 between Okemo and Killington and skinned up off the road on what I know as Mt Shrewsbury. If you seek it you will find it.

The proctorsville one is one I’ve been looking at for a while. It’s actually in the proctor-piper state forest area just before Okemo. If you drive up 103 to that area and just look up to your left and right you can see some lines that almost look like runoof streams for water or something. Just find your line park your car on the side, hike up and go for it.

Needs a little more snow than what’s out there right now. It’s pretty steep so getting up might be a problem without skins. If you do definitely let me know how it goes, been looking at those lines my whole life and never seen a ski line down them.

Nice dude I'll def hit you up if I get a chance to check it out and there's dece snow, thanks!

I'd vouch for the backbowl on Sterling Mt. off Smuggs any day. Massive expanse of land and if the snows just right you can ride the road back to main base or just skiers left-of.
