wtf is up wit uninformed ppl posting about vegetarianism when they clearly know nothing about it?

its easier and better to get protein from a plant-based diet

meat-centered diets give u a 50% higher chance of fatal diseases

the only 'nutrients' u can get from eating meat and nothing else r things lk mad cow disease and salmonella

these r all proven facts, not brainwashing gibberish

im not trying to push my views on u, im fine if u want to eat meat, i jst felt there were some ppl that needed some more information after reading some of the previous posts about vegetarian nutrition on other threads

Vegis to me are like gays. If you dont push your veginess onto me im chill with you. If you do however, im going to be pissed.

yeah but have u ever actually seen a healthy looking vegetarian? there all green and shit... i got a friend whos a vegitarian and we went to lunch, that afternoon he gets sick, he's like that vegitable soup I had for lunch must of had beef broth in it. I'm like ur body is so fucked up that its rejecting beef broth? ur a manly man arent u.

(Ron White for those who haven't seen it)

mezmerize, does that mean ur chill wit me or do u feel i pushed my thoughts on u?

mastaskia, im a healthy looking vegan

artfullydodged, good for u

its fine to eat meat, in moderation that is. Have a small steak with salad and a potato or somthing and thats a pretty balanced diet right their. I personally think vegitarians are kinda lmao because, we were put on this earth as carnavores and we allways have been. Back a 150 years ago a vegitarian would have starved, unless you were rich. I dont really give a fuck about what people eat.

why is your 6th post about being a vegitarian on a ski website.

its ron white. hes a comedian. its a joke. that he told. it applyed to the thread. i thought id post it. i was joking. getting the conection?

i never said anything about moderation, i was mostly talkin bout atkins diet type stuff

sry, i know who ron white is, i jst thought u were postin him to attack vegetarianism

ahhha okay buddy... try eating only meat for a week straight, then try to tell me that we were put on this earth as carnivores... that's such bullshit it probably wasn't worth a response

I shed a tear for you my good man

And I felt you were pushing stuff onto me but you said you werent. so right now your in level dark green. Also known as tolerable

personally i've always viewed it like this:

does it taste good?

does it look good?

is it making me sick?

if it looks good, tastes good, and doesn't make me sick, i'm fine with it.

I somewhat admire vegetarians, it takes a lot of willpower, and i know that i couldn't do it for more than a week. But i also just don't see the point

First of all, what was the point of making this thread, it is pointless.
2. You got any sources to back up your wild claims such as its easier and better to get protein from a plant-based diet and meat-centered diets give u a 50% higher chance of fatal diseases f
3. This is a forum, not a text message or a license plate; vowels are a good thing.

jsut thinking about what i couldnt eat makes me not want to be a vegetarian, cause i eat a shit load of meat, and not that many vegetables

"

the only 'nutrients' u can get from eating meat and nothing else r things lk mad cow disease and salmonella" wow, have you ever heard of protein you damn anemic?

AND WHY does every freaking vegan or vegetarian feel like it is there civic duty to TELL EVERYONE they know that they follow this lifestyle. I mean I respect your decision, but you people are about as smug as Prius drivers...

hahaha YES adrian^
Anthony Bourdain (THE MAN): "Vegetarians, and their Hezbollah-like splinter faction, the vegans, are a persistent irritant to any chef worth a damn. To me, life without veal stock, pork fat, sausage, organ meat, demi-glace, or even stinky cheese is a life not worth living. Vegetarians are the enemy of everything good and decent in the human spirit, and an affront to all I stand for, the pure enjoyment of food. The body, these waterheads imagine, is a temple that should not be polluted by animal protein. It's healthier, they insist, though every vegetarian waiter I've worked with is brought down by any rumor of a cold. Oh, I'll accommodate them, I'll rummage around for something to feed them, for a 'vegetarian plate', if called on to do so. Fourteen dollars for a few slices of grilled eggplant and zucchini suits my food cost fine."

also, all the kids i hung out with this summer were vegan/vegetarian, so my friend and i were the only meat-eaters at an all veggie barbecue...of like, 14 guys..it was weird.

Its not healthy being a vegetarian, especially a vegan. Without vitamin supplements its damn near impossible to get all the nutrients you need.

I really don't get vegans. They won't even eat honey. Fucking honey. How is harvesting honey cruel to bees? Seriously?

I accidently got a "Crispy" patty sandwich instead of a chicken patty in one of the dorm cafeterias. It was AWFUL. Ground up soybeans aren't a replacement for chicken and they never will be. Whats the point of faking meat?

carnivore was a poor choice of vocab, humans are omnivores. we'll eat pretty much anything as you know.

.

It is also a proven fact that a life in the absence of steak increases suicide rates by up to 85%.

i like how you just put statistics and facts out of your ass and say its true... i hate vegetarians who do it because they want to save animal suffering. they are still contributing to it by drinking milk, eating eggs, and so on.

vegetarians can suck a dick...there all hippie and shit and there reasons are competeley fucked up. for one they think eating meat is wrong. there is nothing wrong with it and if they dont buy the meat then someone else is or it gunna go to wast. plus, humans were made to eat meat and there no way someone could have the proper nutrience without eating any meat.

try getting as many complex amino acids without red meat or supplements, vegetarians piss me off they're so god damn smug and try to make me feel guilty, i fixed one girl though..always preaching about vegetarianism and shit so i took a bunch of chicken bones i had from the wings i ordered and put them in all of her shit, i dont have an issue with vegs who leave me alone but please for the love of god stop the bull shit crusade

Thats gross dude, vegetarians are sooo gayyy. Why wouldn't you eat meat? Only 6th grade girls are vegetarians for half a year. You clearly aren't a man.

hahahaha my god you are retarded. how about you eat nothing but those veggies for a couple months, with no vitamins or supplements, and let me know how you are doing. how can you not like meat? seriously it is fucking amazing.

We aren't carnivores actually. We're OMNIVORES. Meaning our bodies are meant to eat meat and plants. We evolved that way because it was much better to get your daily doses of vitamins and essential amino acids through a balanced diet of meat and greens. If you look at your digestive system as well as your teeth and other things, we're meant to eat both, not just one or the other.

Regardless, I leave you all with this:

^disregard my lat post, I see somebody 2 responses before me already made the same correction.

I think being vegetarian probably is healthier, but if you don't eat a huge amount of meat, I don't think it's gonna harm you. Vegetables and soy products also are a lot cheaper than meat. Vegetables are also much more energy efficient, because to fully grow a cow, for example it takes barrells upon barrells of oil and natural gas for farm machinery, lots of work for people bringing in feed, shoveling shit out of stalls, etc. (I work on a farm now and then), plus cows contribute a considerable amount to global warming, because they fart A LOT which produces tons of methane that ends up in the atmosphere. cows also are grazed on land that would otehrwise be forest or habitat for other animals, so raising livestock simply for meat takes down biodiversity.

I'd just like to say something about all the vegetarians/vegans who say that buying meat is what keeps the industry going (and i'm not trying to really attack anyone):

I guess if you convinced something like 50% or more of the meat-buying population you could successfully destroy the industry, but there's a very small amount of people who are pure vegans/vegetarians. You're not going to convince everyone to stop buying meat, and even if you bought meat yourself, it's not like it would matter. The animal is already dead, and the meat is already wherever you bought it from, you're not saving animals by not eating/buying it. In fact, you're almost disrespecting the animal by trying to stop people from buying it. If you feel that it's wrong to eat animals or animal products, then so be it, it won't affect me. But if you're convincing a few people to stop buying the meat, then it's going to waste, and fuck if i was a cow destined for slaughter, i'd want at least someone to enjoy me. Alright, well that came out weird, but i got my point across.

i have no problems with vegetarians but the only problem i have with them is when they start giogn off on how its so much better and its so easy to switch over. every year my uncle comes to thanksgiviing and hes a "vegetarian". the reason hes not a real vegetarian is that he EATS the TURKEY! like wtf? all weekend we have to listen to how much better it is and healthier it is to be a vegetarian while he eats the fucking turkey. i mean i have no problem withpeople being vegetarians just don't push it on me because im going to eat what i want to eat and you can eat what you want to eat. i eat pretty healthy as it is since i have celiacs disease and most of my food ends up being organic shit. my uncle is always really pushing it on me because i already eat alot of vegies but i cant eat alot as is so being a vegetarian really isnt that appealing and yet even though i have told him this he still pushes it on me. It really pisses me off because he has turkey on thanksgiving and has ham on christmas and yet he still says he is a "strict" vegetarian.

yeah i always tell him that i dont care and im still gonna eat meat and NEVER be a vegetarian but he still feels the need to try to sell me on it. hes not even a vegetarian, my aunt (his wife) really is and is extremely strict about it but hes so full of shit. sometimes he gets perperoni pizza too which blows my mind because its not like he has to have meat on his pizza.

i'm a vegetarian and i always get asked "where do you get your protein?"

the truth is, protein is in pretty much everything and most americans get more than enough protein than they need for the day, so why dont people ask me where i get my iron or something? and i agree, most people who arent vegetarians or knowledgeable about a healty diet have no idea what theyre talking about. you can be healthy and eat meat, but most americans arent, and they shouldnt hate on people who decide not to eat animals. its just a personally preferred lifestyle.

I guess the biggest problems with vegetarians is getting all of your essential amino acids. There are like 17? something like that, and most veggies only have up to 13 of them or something. There are only 2 vegetables that have all of the necessary ones and those are beans and tofu or supplements. Doesn't sound too good to me.

if god didnt mean for man to eat animals he wouldnt have made them out of meat.

but for real this guy is right most vegitarians live longer and better lives. and there are so many different types of vegiterians like ones that eat fish or eggs or other things. theyre legit.

and i do eat meat for the record

well youre right, im sure my diet isnt "perfect," as far as getting the exact amount of every vitamin, mineral, and everything else my body needs goes. but in reality, im healthier than most people my age. i see kids at school eating smartfood and doritoes and shit, honestly i wont even touch white bread. ill admit i can get a little obsessive sometimes by reading the ingredients on everything i buy or eat, but it actually is important in the long run. i dont hate on people who eat meat, so i dont understand when people hate on me and my fellow vegetarians. it doesnt make sense.

sure, im kind of a hippy or whatever, but not all vegetarians are. categorizing vegetarians and vegans is unfair and immature just like stereotyping anyone is. personally im not offended when people say stuff to me because im not insecure and i really dont give a hoot. now, i do agree with whoever above me said its healthy to eat meat in moderation, because it is, but most people dont eat it in moderation, so its really quite ridiculous to insult someone who doesnt eat meat if youre an individual who consumes too much of it because in that given situation, both of you have taken it to an extreme in some sense. i know this was quite a ramble, but nevertheless, it serves some significance.
