Van Morrison and Bob dylan

wow bob is out of his vocal league trying to harmonize with van. but cool video. Van Morrison's live "Caravan" in The Last Waltz is fucking amazing
 
i love them both very very much, they're so relaxing and just fun to listen to. but i also am more of a van fan. i dig him.
 
Sorry dude your wrong. Bob might have been a better lyrcist, but as far as musical talent and knowledge, Van is far superior. Not to mention his voice is ridiculous, and Bobby cant sing for shit.
 
I'm torn on bob, I like his stuff and want to like it more, but not being able to understand what he's saying in his older years pisses me off.
 
they are both beasts for sure, and im soo pumped for the dylan concert on august 30th but ill agree van has a better voice, atleast now, bob's voice kinda deteriorated. but its unique, i think bob wins deff for lyrics
 
Bob can't sing. That's about the only valid point you made. Dylan is legendary. Nobody's gonna remember Van Morrison in 100 years, but kids will be reading Dylan's lyrics in school. Dylan is one of the greatest songwriters of our time. There's a reason he's the most covered artist in history.
 
yup, van's voice is the only thing he has on dylan. many sources have named the best rock and roll song of the past 50 years to be by bob dylan. he'll always be more of a legend than van
 
Obviously Bob is more of an icon, and yes he will most likely outlast Van. Regardless, Van is a better musician. Not just vocals, the musical arrangements. Van always has an amazing band backing him but he tells the band what to play. Also, Van is an accomplished guitarist and Sax player.

Pretty much the only point you made is that Bob has better lyrics. I wasnt talking about lyrics though, i was speaking of general musicality.
 
haha, you guys are arguing who's a better music guy with the sounds they made, obviously anyone who thinks Dylan was actually trying to be creative and innovative with his guitar is a bafoon. Dylan doesn't play music and have words to back it up, he has trite music and the most powerful, and amazing storytelling skills to take the cake in every song. Van Morrison is great all around, but Dylan is a God with words and life. Everyone's not always gonna like someone's guitar playing, but if you can't get down with Bob's words, you got a screw loose. Moral of the story, acid helps good musicians?
