So here in Colorado we have not had as much snow as we all would have liked to have by this time. I was on the www last night and saw that Vail, on thier site mind you, announced that they were having a grand opening festival for the Gold Peak terrain park, with a rail jam, music, and more importantly a free lunch. Upon arrival at Vail today they had not even begun to blow snow at Gold Peak.

Dear Vail,

Today I was so dissapointed with you. Please stop lying to me, it hurts my feelings. Also, get busy on the park since the snow is shit. Please give me my day back at Vail, since I only have 9 more left for the rest of the year now. Also I want my free lunch! Oh yeah, THE RAIL JAM WAS THE WEAKEST THING I HAVE EVER SEEN.

since youre obviously a local, which big mountain should i go to this winter? Im skiing 3 days somewhere around vail, but i havent decided exactly where. Vail has the sweet bowls, so im leaning towards them, but any other suggestions?

 
Yes this is very true, Vail is about as steep as a hill in Iowa. The park is always sweet though, I don't know what thier disfunction is, but until then, I'll be chillin at Breck.

 
That sucks the jam didn't go well, but I can't say I'm surprised. Vail is just a crappy mountain. Every mountain in summit county, and even winter park, has a better park than vail now.

Being out there skiing every day, good or bad, just playing around with friends, with no contests or filming- that is the real spirit of skiing for me. that is why i started skiing, and if i lose those moments that is what will make me stop skiing.

it's in a pass deal. unlimited breck, keystone, and a-basin and 10 days at either vail or beaver creek (with blackouts, of course). i can't remember how much it is though.

vail valley never gets that much snow, and if they do they're lying about it.

none of you fuckers know what you're talking about. Vail is not Breck, it is not Copper, and certainly not Mammoth. Vail doesnt give a shit what you think about the park. The truth is, Vail has been North America's Number 1 resort for 8 of the last 10 years, most of those years they didnt even have a park. No park mountain has ever been able to come close to Vail when it comes to REAL SKIING!

Vail's last priority is the park, they need to make the mountain all nice for the people spending $20K first, then worry about the park. Thats why Vail bought Breck, so they could have a park mountain.

The rail jam was fun, it was great for early season steeze.

Spinks, you don't have to defend vail just because you're from there. You know for a fact that it's not a very good mountain. It's good if you're from texas. But there are a ton of places in the US alone with better 'real skiing'. If vail has such great skiing, why is it that no pros, big mountain or park, live there?

DUDE at least you get snow. God damn western skiers have it so nice. I was out there last year, was the nicest snow I had been in and people where bitchin about how it was icy. TRY SKIING THE EAST COAST.

Anyway yeh I am jelous big time. The ice parks of the east coast are getting to me.

 
umm well i forgot who said it but they said 'colorado is just about as cool as getting kicked in the croch' and its the truth, they pay the most for racers and old people, they would even pay more for the russian ice hockey team to come down their then give money to newschool skiers, utah, cali, oregon, and whistler are where its at.

was was just at vail a couple days ago for my firwst time. It sucked they did have a park but the part that got me most mad was noone who worked there was aware of this. after going to lionhead to gold peak which is all the way across the mountain and asking at leatst 5 differant employees i found out the park wasn't open. to tell the truth if you are going to vail there really isn't any reason to be skiing park anyways. there isn't terrain like vail where i live so just enjoy the massive amount of terrain vail has instead of bitching about the park.

fuck all of that....Vail has dropped the ball bottom line. Anyone who knows their shit knows that the U.S. Freeskiing Open starts Jan. 19th. There's no reason it shouldn't be up this time of year.

 
the midwest is blazin' right now. we got like 3 of our 7 chairs open, and i hear the pipe/park could be open soon. goodee!! you stupid fucks. dont complain about your grandmas being able to ski the vail backbowls. your dead great great grandmother's manslave Raul, who is missing all of his limbs, could ski where i live. dont knock vail. it is the mecca of the midwest. but i bet they have a shit park because all of there money is for keeping up the conditions with the thousands that visit each day.

spinks..its the number one RESORT not mountain you fucking dumbass..the resort includes the town,nightlife,restaraunts etc. only about 10% of that is the mountain so your obviously the one who doesnt know what their talking about..tool

vails sweet bowls consist of two turns, and maybe a 100ft straightline to a 40 min cat road...I dont know you but cat roads are the sickest shit west of mississippi...id almost skip the bowls to hit'em

vail is sick. As spinks said their priority isnt catering for park rats but rather for those skiiers who are willing to fork out the big $$$

if you want to ride park go ride breck or keystone - your vail pass works there and they are like a 20 min drive. If you lazy theres even a bus connecting all three resorts
