Vail resorts threatened by echo?

why would they be worried about echo, echo pretty much is a failure, they can't build a jump worth shit because there mountain is to flat, just a shitload of rails. Why would you want to ski a resort like one in the east when you ski in colorado.
 
^ far from it... They do own a lot of areas in the summit county area, but they still have competition from copper, WP and Loveland. And...it's not like theyre ripping people off to go to their resort, $579 to ski 6 mtns next year? Damn good deal. I have a buddy who lives in tahoe and is coming here to get the epic pass next fall because the epic pass is cheaper than a regular pass at JUST Heavenly.
 
Yeah, but you could tell they were trying to go for the monopoly when they tried to buy A-Basin, that was denied because it would be close to a monopoly on Summit County Skiing, and you can't say that Loveland is much of a threat, they are great but I wouldn't consider them competition.
 
i agree that vail resorts gives killer deals. their passes are so cheap for 5 mountains. go to any other state and youll most likely be paying the same price but for just 1 mountain. and echo would never beat out any of vail resorts.
 
Who owns loveland though? copper and wp are owned by intrawest, who also owns steamboat (i think) and whistler, and a bunch of places all over the country, not only ski places too. are there any truly locally owned hills?
 
problem is that probably vail resorts and intrawest, realizing that they r pratically they only people owning ski resorts, could easily raise prices. so we need indepent places like loveland, echo, and (soon) eclipse.
 
ha seriously, it blows my mind how people complain about the pass price here, in ohio where i'm from a season pass for 2 shitty little molehills (bmbw) costs almost as much as a pass out here.

and about vail resorts being threatened by echo.. have you BEEN to echo?! they honestly have no clue how to set anything up, and if chris harris is still in charge of some things there then i'm pretty sure there's a substantial lack of knowledge of just about everything ski industry related. another story of a mtn. wanting to put little to no money into their operations and park but expecting alot of money to be generated somehow
 
actually echo is a really laid back mountain thats fun and offers good night skiing closer than keystone and they actually have pretty fun jibs and chill comps. it obviously doesn't compare to keystone or breck but its cheap and closer than most ski resorts
