Vail prices

Ye. When I was on the epic pass, Vail was a great mountain….but only the mountain. The people sucked, prices sucked, and the town sucked. Get to the hill by 7 or get fucked by 30 bucks to park. Hey, I get it that it pays for the free shuttle at the end of the day if you end up at the wrong base area(I would start in golden peak, end in lions head) but for 30 bucks. The cheapest place to get stuff there is the Starbucks at the arabelle, but still, it’s fuckin vail. Classic mega resort ruined by people and prices. Went to the ikon this year to mix things up a lil and possibly get good in park(if I get to it) but it is what it is. Hate everything about vail resorts but the hill was a nice mellow(and massive) place with a bunch of hits that I kept looking at, but building up the confidence.

Disagree the town for drinking is better than the mountain for skiing.

When I went 3 years ago Uber was brand new and rides back and forth from Beaver Creek were 15 bucks. Can’t believe how cheap the trip was even when I got there and I stayed at the park hyatt. Only wtf was at the lodge at the top of Vail and whatever nonsense they wanted for some fries.
 
I wonder how it compares to prices last year, I bet it's at least a 5 or 6% jump, inline with inflation. Meanwhile company wide raises are at 3.5%, expecting employees to take a pay cut.

Well I don’t drink much(like once every couple months) so I can’t relate. Yes, vail is definitely not the steepest place, yet there are some areas, and you don’t ski the place for park, but it still has cliffs literally everywhere. Lots of steep cat tracks to jump off(especially lower mountain in the spring) but I also wouldn’t say it’s the best, just the largest I’ve been to. Personal preference(vail resorts company still sucks though). You also gotta know where to go to avoid the lines. If your legs are ready to crush the bumps, then highline(10) is great because there’s almost never a line there, but I wouldn’t say the terrain over there is as interesting as elsewhere. Anyways, I’m probably going to take break from that place for a couple years. Had some bad run ins with people being rude.

Its very fun intermediate terrain.

I have visited twice as an adult and had fresh pow each time without bad crowds so I like it. Also met a super hot skier chick each time its not a sausage fest like lots of places.

This isn't an early season lack of snow bitch thread but I think after this season and last there are going to be VERY few mountains that have the staff to handle an early season opening should they get nuked on and have full coverage in November/Early December. Vail should be an exception. If they are fully open before Christmas and I can get pre Christmas deals I'll go back. No way I'd ever pay high season rates though.

Vail the company are huge cunts re Beaver Creek and the lame ass mens World Cup. They shut down the entire Birds Of Prey lift and all those trails for that event and keep them shut until Christmas. I arrived the day after it ended and the resort staff are like 'this won't open until Christmas we need time to remove the spectator stands and we want to save the snow for the holiday crowds.' Buttfuckers.
 
Honestly smart move on vails end. Making money off stupid people. Who tf buys their food at the hill anyway? I can see if you’re having a couple drinks and grub with some buddies after the day at the local resort restaurant but damn I can’t believe people actually buy resort food.

Resorts should double food prices, idc they money grab from tourists. maybe they would have enough money to not pull stupid shit like fast tracks, paid parking, ect.

food and beverage is actually the biggest money maker for them. You'd think lift tickets would be a large contributor but it's actually one of the smallest (as per my wife who used to work in their pass office for years).
 
Pretty insane an hour of a patrollers life where he/she can potentially help/save several people is less valuable than this sandwich without fries or a drink.
 
I remember back in the day my buddy and I would head to Vail a few times a year back when the old Epic pass gave like 4 free days. We would roll up, tip the parking attendant some weed for cheap parking (he was a weed dealer so it was basically free), bring our own food and have a time. It was pretty funny actually, the parking guy just smiled and said, "Your money is good with us sir." You gotta know how to bum to make it in CO.
