Vail is back at it.

why this actually doesnt seem that bad. both resorts are already aquired by vail so by connecting them it betters the resorts and brings money into PC

Im really confused why this is a bad thing. Ok it will become a much bigger destination resort...but great for the local economy. Only downfall for the locals will be a huge rise in real estate prices for those who rent or don't own already.

As someone who skis at a really developed resort..its great. Nice restaurants, clothe stores, ski stores, heated walkways , etc.

doesn't really bother me, honestly. everyone in PC is acting like these are the only places to ski on earth. its not like you can take a 40 min drive over to the cottonwoods for way better skiing or anything like that.

I dont get why it makes you mad or sad, "We get faster and bigger lifts at pc? Wtf that sucks so bad! We have to take a gondola to the next door resort instead of drive and miss 45 minutes of skiing?! I hate you vail so much!"

Seriously the mountain is already owned by vail whats the big deal

That particular area is of no value to backcountry skiing (unlike one wasatch) or summer trail travel. I was thinking for sure there would be an expansion onto Scott Bowl along the Crest, which I would have stronger feelings about.

Not really news, they've been talking about this since day one.

The lift upgrades are nice and sure the connection is cool, unfortunately it takes 1 lift to get to the new gondola from PCMR but then it takes 6 lifts to get there from Canyons. If anything, Vail should tear down the lifts at Canyons and reorganize them.

Also, this already exists in Park City.

Why does everyone think PC isn't a resort town? it blows my mind.

for real. PC lost its cool hip ski town vibe a while ago.

I came on here expecting to see "Vail terrain parks including Golden Peak 100% open with all features"

Fuck you OP. I hope you die a slow painful death

Regarding the faster/bigger lifts: They did something similar at Breckenridge this year when they changed the Colorado Superchair from a 4-person to a 6-person chair. All that did is make the lift lines shorter and put 50% more people on each run. More crowded runs are not fun. I'd rather have longer lines and more open runs.

Same thing is gonna happen to PCMR.

The new Superchair is fucking stupid. The gates and magic carpet fuck shit up way more than they help. I've seen so many empty chairs go up because people can't figure it out. I just don't get it, people have been getting on ski lifts for decades, why do we now need something to make that "easier"?

Now PC can enjoy the slow signs, yellow jackets, and getting your pass pulled for going "too fast" that comes with Vail resorts. Maybe they'll even put up tally boards of how many passes have been pulled that season like they have at Breck.

Again... all of this stuff already exists at park city haha

And the gates are gone, the carpet is only on one lift.

Well that sucks for you guys. But PC already being a resort doesn't really change my opinions about Vail.

Im sure it doesn't, but PC has always been a toursit resort, vail isn't making it any worse really, just furthing the process basically.

The only places in utah without a super touristy vibe are alta, brighton and solitude.

that's fine, i'll just go ski the 15 or so other resorts under a 60mile radius. its not like im being forced to ski there. people up here need to get over this notion that they have to ski PC area resorts. shit, if they have enough money to live in PC, you can afford to drive over to LCC/BCC.

the lift lines suck a dick, but that's going to happen when you ski over weekends and holidays. i went up today on a Monday when it was fucking blue as the eye could see, and not a single lift line to wait in. it just depends on what time you ski. rule of thumb should be mid week will always be dead unless its the holidays.

Park City lost it's soul a long time ago... South Park even made fun of it in 1998 with "Chef's Chocolate Salty Balls"

Don't feel bad for Park City

If your pass is getting pulled, then you're not fast.
