BURLINGTON, Vt. -- Six ski resorts are joining in the protest over Burton's two controversial new snowboards, which feature images of Playboy models and cartoons of self-mutilation.

Smugglers' Notch says employees are banned from using the Love and Primo boards.

At Vail Resorts, which owns Vail, Breckenridge Ski Resort, Beaver Creek Resort, Keystone Ski Resort in Colorado and California's Heavenly Mountain Resort, officials say workers are prohibited from using the Love boards, or any other inappropriate, offensive or suggestive equipment while on duty.

Last week community members protested in front of the Burton Snowboards headquarters, calling for the company to pull the boards from the market.

Burton stands by the boards saying it supports freedom of artistic expression.

Some people are definitely getting too worked up about this, but you can't blame resorts for not allowing employees to use them.

just you watch, now Burton's going to say how badass they are and that people should buy their new boards and go poach all those hills because snowboarders are so rebelliously cool.

yeah, the resorts don't want to offend their customers. It seems like a bit much for the resorts to be protesting though.

If you need a reason, boycott them because they are sucky graphics. I can think of lots of other things I'd rather have on my skis or on a board.

the love board is awesome, id ride one if i boarded forsure

regardless, im just gonna cut and paste gay sex scenes and erected dicks on my skis next year.. that'll show em whats really inappropriate

the primo ones are just weird and if you actually want to stare at that all night then id go get a therapist. the love ones are dope though haha

So what, you've been doing that for years now right???

freedom is fredom untill it offend other peopl, if everyone wouldnt mind seeing naked chicks onhil then I wouldnt mind either but yea that's pretty much lookingfor trouble and the EXPOSURE that comes with it.

Smart move by burton, even if I dont support it.

haha what smuggs?? next thing you know theyre going to forget how to make boxes properly and theyll stop maintaining their park. oh wait....

This is exactly what Burton wanted. Remember, bad publicity is still publicity. When's the last time you saw Burton on CNN, without Shawn White's face being mentioned. Hell, when was the last time Burton had it's own thread on NS? I"m sure they're pumped about all of this talk.

these are a hotter than the Jon Pro's......

Burton is so fucking smart.

Run a over-the-top graphic, check.

Claim freedom of artistic expression, check.

Get all the free press in the world, compiments of every news network, check.

Let all the dealers that carried the board know that returning them is ok, check.

sell the boards on burton.com for full retail and make double margin on every board sold. Ingenious.

The love and the primo have to be the 2 most popular boards right now in the "core" group, retailers nation wide are returning the board because they dont want to be part of this controversy, the core group is forced to buy from burton, Burton makes $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$!

^ if anyone actually cared about boone.....

alta has been protesting snowboards for 70 years. MRG and deer valley have for a long time too.

Am i the only one that doesnt think burton is trying any harder to be cool than anyone else? they are a company, of course they do shit to promote themselves, generally speaking as a company you like business. They thought it would be a funny/sick graphic so they threw it on there. If the media gave 2 shits about the ski industry they would have been all over the JO pros but they dont. Snowboarding is the cool thing to report, so they report that.

You expected something else from Vail Resorts? Why would they not try to limit their employees more? It is part of their mission statement. If you're employed by your resort and they won't let you ride around with skis that say fuck texas or have a giant penis grease penciled onto them you should look for a new job.

Remember when Rossi had that graphic on the scratch BC that was mildly sort of borderline offensive to really sensitive people... and they caved? I don't know what's worse: that, or those graphics (which are incredibly cheesy).

Burton is so fucking gay....but not at all because of these graphics.

These resorts are dicks....of course, well it's not the resorts, it's the dumb cunts who complain about such stupid shit.

I think that its reasonable for the resorts to not allow employees to ride the boards but it would be bullshit for them not to allow people to use them. I don't see why its so awful to see someone naked. The most you can see is the girls as and if a kid looks at it good for him, theres no reason this should be a big deal. And the title is so misleading.

i know, im actually kinda pissed because now their all going to be like, "here at burton we stick it to the man, were fucking badass and we dont care what other people say BLAH BLAH BLAH so buy are boards and be a badass too"

im against burton but i do agree with the whole aartistic expression shit, like people should be able to put what ever they want on their boards. People are too up tight these days...

Agreed

and the love board is so sick. If i boarded i would ride that shit for sure......not that my parents would let me have it in the first place but its always nice to think about.
