Vacuum sealed/packed weed

I am looking for some opinions on how long 2/3 of an oz that is vacuum sealed in a bag will last

the bud was fairly wet when i got it, nothing ridiculous but not dry at all, like stems were bendy
 
i heard of dudes who buried a couples ozs in their yard for half a year or a year. just got dry, and crystally

ive also smoked a roach from a year or so before, got me stoned.
 
I can almost guarantee it will last as long as you're needing it to.I had a quarter last two months just in a Ball glass jar.
 
are you trying to save it for a certain time? it'll be good for a while if you keep it nice and air tight but why do you ask really?
 
everyone needs to do this, go to your local cigar shop and ask for a gel humidity regulator. it usually holds 2-4 cigars and has a compartment for these gel crystals that hold a small amount of water. you put your weed where the cigars go and the crystals keep it just perfectly conditioned so it doesnt dry out and the container keeps it from getting moldy or smashed like vacupacking does.
 
I smoked weed that was 15 years old once (a pipe sitting undisturbed in a garage with a bowl still in it) and it got me a head change, I think you'll be fine.
 
Yea im saving it for a certain time, thats why i ask haha

I wouldn't want to be all happy like a kid on christmas morning cutting into my package of dank only to find out it was all moldy and shitty now would I?
 
oh and sorry for dub post, but if you buy a small ceder lined humidor and put all your bud in there, it should technically taste better and age. cigars do it so why not weed.

 
I actually having it vacuum packed in a bag inside a mason jar with 2 seperate pieces haha

but that advice does not end the thread becuase the weed has already been vacuum packed

 
You could use one of those jars that comes with the vacuum saving machine. That was it will pull the air out, but not crush the beautiful buds. This is what I would do if I needed to keep some for a long time.
 
In SoCal your weed seriously can't go moldy, not humid enough, so I've never worried about that haha. If you are worried though, like seriously worried, I would invest in an American Spirit clay disc. Its for their tobacco, which becomes easily dry or too moist because it is organic. You put it in a sac or pouch dry and it stops it from getting moldy. You put it in slightly wet and it won't dry out.
 
Yea the thing no one is picking up on is the weed is already vacuum sealed in a bag, so there isn't really anything I can add to it now
 
when I first skimmed over the title I thought you wrote a vacuum sucked up your weed and my initial thoughts were NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
 
its too bad you couldn't just buy it when you need it, rather than go through such great lengths to preserve it. Moldy weed blows. But apparently you can still smoke it.
 
get ur buds out of that bag asap! wet buds will mold nomatter what. u should dry them first. steams should snap. seems like ur saving shitty weed which is stupid. i recoment u save up 300 bucks and buy urself a ounce of really good heddies. then put it in to a glass jar with a snap lid thatsthe best way to preserve bud. vacume seal bags blow, there only good if u are pushing half pounds because normaly thats howmuch u can fit in to a big vacume seal bag.

"The dryer the higher" thats what ive always gone by.

If it were vaccume sealed wet, it will mold. Put it in a brown paper bag and open once a day or so. or lay it out on some cardboard. once its dried out store it in glass. I kept some killer skunk for over a year in a non vaccume sealed jar, and broke it out for a birthday. it was pretty tastey. once you have it in glass, if your looking for really long term you could put it in a freezer. I would never put any herb in a container with a carrot or lettuce or anything else for that matter. It cant be too dry.
 
It shouldn't mold if it is vacuum sealed. If you use a good vacuum that can get all the air out of it it should last for a long time like a really nice food saver. How can mold grow if it has no air or any atmosphere?
 
you make a good point, but if its airtight the moisture will have nowere to go. wont the vaccume bag fog up? its sucking out the air not the water.. either way dry your herbs out and put them in glass if you can.
 
Throw the bud in some rice overnight, and then in the morning vacuum it back up and stick it in a jar.

ehh, why is it wet then? ur dealer shoulda dried it if he grew it. if its fresh u should know what ur doing and dry it. im willing to bet its some indoor middies. deff no sour deez.

and i think u know what to do now. dry it and jar it. or just sell it and buy some real bud when u can burn again

And to anyone considering this, basic storage skills for dried anything would be to include some desiccant packets if you're really worried about moisture. Because THC is a drug, be sure to keep it out of sunlight because UV rays break down the chemicals faster over time, decreasing its potency. Store in an amber or opaque bag. A vacuum bag would last much longer than a jar or container, but also may smush your stuff. Zip lock sells vacuum plastic containers so those may work too.
