V for Vendetta.....

or he doesnt want to get involved in controversy........jkjkjkjkjkjkjkjkjkjkjkjkjkjkjkjkjkjkjkjkJKJKJKJKJKJKJKJKJK

the movie was phenom...inal? enal? whatever... its use off aliteration and rhyme made every line memorable (especially the opening description of himself) not to mention the fun it poked at the nazi party...the fight scene at the end is almost worth the money, rad movie for sure.

Yeha, people need to pay a lot more attention to the opening monoglaue... especially the part about VAUDEVILLE... its all a big show. the chicanery and villainy and masks and dancing and all of it... old school show biz, which i personally think gave it that much of an edge.

like the part where ... im forgetting his name, the tv show host friend who parodies the chancellor and gets offed... theres something in there abotu only the truly disturbing being made fun of, and the preface of the movie being vaudvillian plays right into that making it easier to laugh along with and commiserate with. otherwise... tkae it as self-parody. also check all the art-historical refernces in V's 'lair'...

lastly, i'll leave you with this wonderfully fucked up donald rumsfle quote that was in a school magazine recently:

"Here is this country, this wonderful country, the United States of America, that does so much for the world. Through government assistance to various people, the tsunami assistance, the Pakistan assistance, the private charities that people do. And a country that doesn't try to take anyone else's real estate, isn't trying to gran anyone else's oil, isn't trying to do anything like that. And yet, the message out there is filled, the airwaves are filled, with lies. The al-Qaeda are constantly, systematically putting out lies about the United States of America."

from the Charlie Rose show, Feb 17, 2006.

sick movie. (though anarchy is played... its still fun)

The best movie I've seen in a while, it should get an Oscar for editing!! I'm still stunned about how well the story was played out.. Absolutely fantastic, 9½. The fact that it happened in England brought much more premise for the movie, excellent flick with amazing acting, music and a feel that grips you from the first minute on. A classic. Looks like the Wachowski brothers CAn still deliver good shit.

You do realize that The Matrix (the first one) was riddled with christ references, don't you?

Neo Anderson means "new son of man"

The man who buys the illegal software says "you are my own personal Jesus Christ"

The oracle predicts his rebirth.

He is killed and reborn through the love of "Trinity"

He ascends at the end of the movie.

The last two movies deviate sharply from this, but the first film was really meant to be self-contained.

Just please don't compare somebody to the anti-christ because you don't agree with their anti-right wing views. Thats in bad taste.

They left out my favorite part of the comic, the part where the detective trips ball son acid in the detention center remains...that's where the whole "tied in together" thought came from, they just didn't want him to take acid and have it shown in a positive/enlightening manned.

Yes just not as linearly as the first. The first closely paralelled the life of christ, while i was not able to make any direct connections like that with the 2nd or 3rd. But maybe there are and i just don't know.

I had an idea it was V but thought that would be just dumb. I originally thought it was him cause they always kept the guys face darkned and never really showed anything. Then she walks out and its his house. Jesus Christ Natalie Portman is hot as shit but her character wasn't very observant. How the fuck could you be imprisoned by someone, have your head shaved, fed and interrogated evryday and not figure out who it was.

reminded me of 1984, like someone said. on the other hand, 1984 is a much better book than this was a movie. go read it.

yeah shes deff. hot but come on the government guy raided her house, and she never saw V's place at all. the only thing that gave it away was the gloves, because they kept the guys face in darkness

That was a more well done movie that I have seen recently. Addresses interesting issues and makes you think.

My favorite line is where he says "behind this mask there is more than flesh, there are ideas, and ideas are bulletproof".

i enjoyed it... not the BEST storyline, not the BEST movie... but one of the better ones ive seen recently

i was kinda high while i saw it so i might be overly critical here. i thought that the acting was unbelievable and cheesy. i thought the story was stupid. i thought that the names like codename v were stupid. i thought that the flowers were gay. i thought that the dike chick in the prison didn't look like a lesbian and that ruined it cuz she should have been a skank ho. i didn't really like the movie. except the part with the comedian show with the chancler, i was the only person in the theatre that was supressing laughter

at the end when she's watching parliament blow up with the detective, she turns to him and referring to V, says "He was my father..." and pauses before she goes on, and for a second i was like WTF!!!!!!

ohhhh not only does it muse on christianity and several other main religions such as buddhism, it also touches on plato's cave and descarte's demon, two interesting theories to do with how we percieve reality...

'real...how do you define real, if real is what you see, smell, touch...then real is nothing but electrical impulses interpretted by our brains'

however, it is interesting to note that this is what morpheus is basing his assumptions of reality (the real world) upon also, hence we are incapable of defining reality, that is what plato and descarte address in their philosophies

we analyse that movie in religious education and theology here in aus, so clearly it's got a fair bit of substance

my god worst 10.95 ive ever spent, i thouhg it blew cock, they made a big deal out of nohting worst movie ive seen in a while.. damn i knew i shoulda have gone and i wouldve seen something else if it werent for my friends..

Uhh dude, he's done that to every single comic that he wrote that has been made into a movie(which is about 3 now i think). It's not the production of the movie, he just hates the fact that people are making a movie out of his comic because he's an old cranky assmunch.

correction, ONE of the creators of the comic doesn't want anything to do with it. the second creator of the comic is all the way behind it.

that tells you, that one of the guys likes it, the other doesn't.

I saw it last night on IMAX and personally, I thought the movie was so good. Mainly because I hate confroming to society with a passion and the movie was basically about not being a conformist and thinking for yourself. It pleased me to see that.

whoever said the wachowski bros are the anti christ of films is way out of line.

also... this movie was fabulous. fantastic references to the past both to their own past and our past. well written, well directed. also a perfect time to release this film considering Canada has recently taken a step towards a more american gov't...effing conservatives..and that china will one day be the next super power...soooo i must say i was quite impress with the film. i liked it...it was a softer version of the book Brave New World..which i highly recommend.

so its my opinion... that most filmmakers out there are arrogant bastards. to flaunt their arrogant bastardry, they make movies that like this... some people think theyre too smart for it, some people think theyre smarter by it... either way the wachowskis got your 10 bucks and theyre smarter than you. so... personally, yes of course it was cheesy, which it was certainly intended to be... but i think in the 7 layer dip of movie watching... the cheese layer was appropriately thick. are you not entertained?

great movie! my girlfriend fucking loved it. i wish there was more action though. i mean everything else was sweet, but i could have used some more specially effected knife throwing.

Yah the comic was even more boring. I thoroughly enjoyed the movie, but i can see where some people might not enjoy it as much. A lot of people are going to go into it expecting a brainless action flick and are going to get something completely different. I thought it was awesome though

Voilà! In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is a vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished. However, this valorous visitation of a bygone vexation stands vivified, and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin vanguarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition. The only verdict is vengeance; a vendetta held as a votive, not in vain, for the value and veracity of such shall one day vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous. Verily, this vichyssoise of verbiage veers most verbose vis-à-vis an introduction, so let me simply add that it's my very good honor to meet you and you may call me V.

overall i'd say the movie was pretty sick. the whole getting "tortured" thing kinda ruined for me. for those of u who saw it as just another anti government movie: sure it took a hit at all the political shit that's going on..but it did a hell of alot better job then any other movie i've seen.

^haha the above passage has 55 words that start with the letter 'v'...

5 x 11 = 55

and what happened on the 5th day of the 11th month...?

"there is no such thing as coincidence, only the illusion of coincidence"

i jsut saw it, its fucking goood i highly recommend it

(bump)
