Sunday I am visting UVM and I've heard very good things. I know that alot of people on this site go to UVM and I had a few questions about it. Does anyone here know about the technology and computer classes there, I'm thinking about computer science when I go to college. Also it very expensive there and have any of you gotten scholorships for your and grades and how were your grades?

I am also visting Champlain even though I can't spell it and SUNY Plattsburg and was wonder the same things about these. I'm pretty sure I'll get all the questions answered better at the colleges but I just thought I could get your guys input.

i had a 3.8 in high school with a 1950 or something on my SATs, they give me like 3grand a year or something and i didn't apply for anything (i'm out of state). i took a cs class last semester, it sucked. the teacher didn't teach and i had to go to the lab after class with the TAs. this kid did my final almost for me and then i did like 5 other kids that couldn't work it. cs is tricky shit.

im in state and got some scholarships and stuff. its need based i think so if u get in they should theoretically get whatever money you need to be able to pay for it, but who knows.

oh my bad. i forgot how 2 years ago they changed the format adding in an essay worth another 800 points. yea, but i'm sure that wouldn't exceed 1600 points so its good, you're probably right.

champlain=more worth it...UVM=bunch of retards trying to turn a state school into an ivy league school. also uvm is a dry campus poooop :(

Nope... UVM is about as dry as a lake. I'm fairly confident that UVM rapes the shit out Champlain in every way possible.

meant to add...your a dumbass it IS a dry campus. obviously people still have booooze but if your 21 and still get caught wid it your still fucked. sorry buddy

since vermont is such a small state, UVM doesn't get a lot of public funding, so unless you are a minority, lost a parent, an amazing student, or have some other special circumstances, you prob won't get much financial aid. i didn't just a lot of loans. my best advice would just be to apply to a shit load of outside scholarships.

i'm just finishing up my sophomore year here, 2 more finals to go, and in my opinion UVM is pretty much the shit, i would highly recommend it.

if you have any more questions feel free to hit me up

bahahaha wow you've got a lot to learn smart ass....dry campus means excatly what i said, i know people who are 21 and got busted cause they had booooze. OBVIOUSLY just depends on t he RA but most are fat stupid counter strike fiends, just like mine

haha my brother got caught with beer and hes only 19 and hes only not allowed on campus for a month which they surely wont enforce. but he doesnt go to the school, theres lots and lots of alcohol at UVM though.

so, pretty much, dry campus doesn't mean shit off of paper (hmm, sounds familiar). It doesn't matter if you're 21 or not on campus, because you don't go to the college to buy alcohol, you go to a liquor store that has NO affiliation with the college. Under 21 with an ID will work as well at UVM as having a 21 year old buddy.

Good work on responding with useless banter.

oooooooook i'm not saying that it is impossible to have boooze or any other substances on campus cause obviouslyu it isn't that hard....but i'm just saying when GROOOVY FUCKN UVY turns to a DRY CAMPUS you know something isn't right with the world

hey do you even know what dry campusmeans? its not that you can't BUY alcohol on campus it means you cannot HAVE it on campus even tho your 21.

i think its funny how UVM went from being a top 10 party school in the US and then try to make it dry. not gonna happen.

Last semester (first 'dry' semester) the only thing that the college did, to my knowledge, was to send cops to every fraternity house the first Friday night of the semester to be sure there were no parties. After midnight, we had our party, as did the other fraternities. Every other week was a normal frat party as every other year. So, as I've said, being 'dry' did not have a devastating result on a UVM student's ability to get drunk.

Sorry for the smartass remark earlier, but UVM is still very much full of practicing alcoholics.

I'm aware, being a UVM student last year, I know for a fact that it didn't mean much of anything, besides publicity for President Douchebag-Fogel.

its just a rule, which like all rules can and WILL be broken...ALL i was trying to say throughout the million posts was that the vibe is trying to change which in my booook is gay as fuck wow

oh, for sure. I hated UVM anyways, but the fact that the President MADE the cops patrol the frats the first week and actually knock on doors was so lame.

Why did you hate it?- Too big, teachers that I had were too focused on research and not enough about their students, too close to home.

Why did I join a frat? - I didn't drink or party in high school, went to some rush events with a buddy, loved the whole thing because it was so different from what I'd done before. The one I pledged had a full-time cook and I liked the guys and it was actually cheaper to live at the house (food, single room, parking) than it was to live in the dorms with a meal plan.

Why did I debrother? - I ended up getting over the whole 'this is so much fun because it's different than what I'm used to' thing and I realized how immature, irresponsible, and lame it was. Also, many of the people I liked graduated and the new president and vice presidents were so stressed out because of low numbers (amount of brothers) and other stressors that it became a hassle and a burden to even be in the house.

Oh, woops, forgot something.

Why did you hate it?- Too big, teachers that I had were too focused on research and not enough about their students, too close to home.

ALSO*, I transferred to UVM and had 12 credits transfer. UVM calculated those into my gpa, but also calculated those credits with a 0.0 GPA, which made brought my cumulative GPA low enough to kick me out of the school. They realized their mistake, told me what had happened, but still told me that I would need to appeal the expulsion in order to get into the school. I appealed, easily got back in because of the mistake, and they refused to admit that they were wrong (after the originally told me of the mistake) and refused to apologize. I was so fuckin mad about that, along with the other things I listed, that I withdrew from UVM and signed up for classes at the community college. Next semester I'll be going to a new college, though.

they both hold there own....honestly it depends on opinion. If you like large universities go to UVM. If you like smaller classes and a tighter knit community go to champlain. Plus champlain is sweet and if your out of state a few grand cheaper...although still very expensive in my opinion.

I got into UVM, Bozeman and University of Denver and visited all of them. They are all awesome schools but I chose DU. UVM is great though. I have a friend who goes there and loves it.

UVM has relatively small classes for it's size, but I agree with you, they're both sweet schools. Champlain is definitely tighter knit though. Everybody is like family

You guys are forgetting Champlain won battle of Burlington.

But that's just because Curry goes to Champlain.
