UVM vs Saint Mikes

I'm currently a Junior in central vermont, and have started looking at colleges. The only two that catch my eye in state are UVM and Mikes. I was wondering if people that went to either of those could give some insight on what the colleges are like. +k for good responses, just trying to get some opinions from other skiers.

this is going to turn into a shit show like every other uvm thread. But here goes, I enjoy uvm a lot, Burlington is a sick town and uvm is a good choice especially for in state students and depending on your major is pretty highly regarded. I don't know much about saint mikes, but i know its not as big a school.

uvm also has the freestyle team which is cool, its like $650, you get a stowe pass, they provide rides to the mountain, there's a cool coach, and they pay any competition entry fee that you want. For some kids its worth it and for others its not. I forgot you also get some decent deals on stuff through the team and you get a sweatshirt or something.

St. Mikes sucks, I go to UVM and it's a really fun school but the best part about it is that burlington is right at my front door. Best city to live in, if anything go to UVM for Burlington.

but whatever you do, don't go to Champlain.

Love,

God

Yeah if you want to experience halloween year round and hardcore gamers nerds giving you the look like you are the weird one for skiing when you get an inch or two, then come to Champlain.

But at least we aren't Saint Mikes...

Yoo Zack its Jon Rhy's friend. send it to UVM, seriously. St. mikes is nothing special but the groovy UV is SOOO sick, those kids have alotta fun no doubt

TRUUU, I'm here, and we have some sweet teachers and classes, but its also mad weird and they push you towards starting your own business. If you want to start your own business I would say come here; but if you don't like it you can't really transfer out due to the fact that our credits don't count at most other schools.

Burlington is a weird clash between the free hippie type people and the marijuana will kill you cut your hair and get a damn job people.

Also the music venues are all pretty lame. I got stared down for a good 5 min trying to get into nectars once. I was on the guest list, was sober, and was 22 with a normal valid nothing funny id. I'm not sure if he was trying to make me wait until I cracked and broke down crying admitting that it was fake and that my dad didn't love me or if he was just hoping that I would eventually die of boredom and he could help himself to the contents of my wallet.

And sober ground. The only to good things I can say about that place are that they have heady topper reasonably priced too, and that they get good bands(because vermont has shit for music venues)

I don't think that was in anyway helpful but I feel better no that I've told you.

Sober Ground? I don't think I've ever seen a sober person there

You can be sober and not get let in there. Everything from cops in the search to cops in the crows nest from time to time. Checking stalls and everything else.

They get some great bands through because there's really no where else to play in vermont.

Not as bad as Northern Lights in CP NY but goddammit they're trying.

Definitely not a super chill venue by any means.

UVM for sure. It's right in town while St. Mike's is a couple miles away, and with traffic that can turn into 30min easy. You'll have more academic options at UVM, and you'll have more fun on and off campus housing all 4 years. I never went to the St. Mike's area for night life, but I'm positive living in Burlington gives you infinitely more options. Plus once you're 21 cabbing back to Colchester from the bars will add $20 to every night you want to go out.
