i have got my mind set on going to UVM. I am looking for some info on it like tution, how good is the skiing, whats the overall vibe of the place, how many NS'ers are there, some personal accounts of the place, and last what kind of grades does it take to get in.

Please help me NS I really apperciate it.

Well Burlington is deff a college kinda of town there is downtown so theres stuff to do down there. Theres a big ass fucking hill that goes down to the lake and its a bitch to climb up and down esp. if you're drunk and its icey. Longboarding seems to be a popular thing to do. As far a tuition it depends on out of state or in state and if they will give u any money so check the website out for that stuff. You do have to drive to ski like 45 mins to an hour or more there is Stowe, Bolton, Sugarbush but there are tons of kids and NSers around so you can carpool or whatever.

I visited UVM and loved the school and burlington. Theres a good chance I'll go there if I get in.The town seems pretty sick and the school is huge and seems to have a good variety of people. Only problem is I think its pretty expensive. (for some reason I think its around $35K but don't quote me on that)

well my twin brother goes there
good skiing is about 45 minutes away.
either get a stowe, mad river, smuggs, or jay pass.
dont go to bolton its a total shithole.
theres also a big underground backcountry and urban scene...
hope this helps

you've chosen that school as a definite place you're going to apply for, but dont know the tuition costs...you'l soon find out why im chuckling inside as other uvmers prolly are too. shits expensive dude.

I'm applying for UVM as a safety school. I wish my rents would let me put it up higher, I really liked it when I toured. From what I've heard it's decently good academically (very good if you do honors program), the best EC skiing is super close, great party scene.

bolton is definitely not a shit hole, its so convenient, its close, and i can ski everyday after classes no matter what, they have night skiing and the parks got its own chair, sure its not huge, but still a blast, and then just a twenty five minute drive to a dope apres ski scene in burlington.

uvm is fun and easy. its a fine choice

I'm a freshman and I'll give you my first impressions:

Dope vibe, really cool people everywhere. Downtown - super fun, good eats.

Tuition - out of state, I believe it is about $43,000, but you get hefty grants depending on your academic/athletic abilities.

Skiing - join the ski/snowboard club, and you get a $375 pass to Stowe (45 mins. away) or the Triple Major for $269 (MRG, Bolton Valley, Jay Peak)

Any other specific questions just PM me, I already forgot what questions you asked in your OP

I completely disagree with you...
bolton has a steep pitch thats about 300 vertical feet, then its pretty much flat. I'm not even joking you have to straight line to get to the bottom of the lift and theres lots of gapers and steeze fags there.

who the fuck cares who goes to the mountain. the got a great lit up pictch, with half ungroomed all season, the other is a great pitch, a park all lit up, and u can go every dayy after school. wait till u settle with just a stowe pass and i get 5 days a week skiing and you get two or three. trust me, grab a job at the bolton ski school to pay for your gas and a free season pass and you'll have a great year skiing with friends. where you from

well its free for me.....

but other than cost its a great town, everyone is pretty much chill there arent many assholes. plenty to do , great party scene once you get to know people. just dont be one of the kids in a huge group of freshman walking around with backpacks full of booze asking "wheres the party at?".

uhhh Im from Underhill, Vermont. But I now live in SLC, UT. So ya have fun with Bolton...
I still totally disagree with you about Bolton. Sure they have night skiing but the terrain still sucks.

If I wasn't born and raised in Vermont I would love to go to UVM. Burlington is awesome and the skiing around it is great. But like eastcoastjibber said Vermont skiing cannot compare to Utah or Colorado.

dude. i live in underhill. but ya bolton is shit. i skied there for free all last winter cuz a friend gave me a staff pass he found and i just used that. but ya the drive to bolton in 10 times more hardcore then the skiing.

The steepest drive to the flattest hill. Bolton is basically bankrupt at the end of each season of course its going to be kinda shitty. I like their park, at least the rails, and the Wednesday night Knight Riders series is a good time.

bolten is not shit. its cheap, theres no one there, good snow. just because it doesnt have the hype of stowe, which is not even that great, doesnt mean its shit. i would pick jay out of any place that i have been in northern vermont, i dont care if their park sucks, going in the woods is so much more fun. dont get me wrong all i ski is park because i live in connecticut but when i go up north, all i ski is the trees and bolten has some pretty gnarly trees. u just gotta look in the right spot

UVM is soo tight...its free for me cause my pops works there so i'll prolly end up there...lots of Nsers, sick town, great party scene (3rd in Reefer Madness) good skiing whereever you choose and def. a good allaround academic school...i ski primarily at bolton and i think its pretty sik...if you don't like park you'll prolly get bored after a couple months though...always good backcountry booters and skiing...fuck the haters

my friend told me its pretty expensive compared to some of the other colleges around. or just move to canada and practically get paid to go to school

dude its ok. plzzzzzzz dont cry. ill be back to ski with everybody when all the kids get back from college. and ill be there dickin around sometimes cuz i live wicked close. but i need a job to get a free pass. scoop ice cream or some shit.

yeah ill try not to cry too much. cant wait till the season starts. i just got my subbie so im going to drift the shit out of the smuggs parking lot

orry your orbalky missundestoodme. the skiing isnt a downside. the pot head fags and hippie treehugging queerloving bitches are a downside. sorry. just had to clear that up for you.

Ok so I'm 90% sure I'm going to UVM now. Finally convinced the parents to let me seriously apply without it being just a safety school. Stoked!

I just got home from touring UVM and St. Mikes. Burlington was an awesome town and I might go to either school. UVM seems to be really big but that might be just for me because I come from a small town, but it gives off a great vibe with people longboarding and biking all over campus.

UVM is my #1 choice for next year, and im pretty sure i'll get in...just have to figure out how its going to get paid for.

what kind of grades do you need to get in there?

im an out of stater with an 83 gpa, 1260 sat, and really good scores on 3 subject tests, do i have sweat this or is it no problem?

My best advice to you is to work your ass of this semester and try to join some clubs and volunteer stuff.

By no means am I saying that you won't get in, but this stuff always helps.

^^And to the question about financial aid, you fill out a form called the FAFSA, it is where you list how much money you make, your parents make, how many siblings you have (and if they are in school, how much it costs) and how much you have in bank accounts. They use it to determine the amount of financial aid.

im bumping this old thread but whatever. im pretty sure that i will get in, just waiting for the letter. and my sister got in with no clubs or sports, just real good grades and good SAT score. dont sweat it, because you will probably get in if you didnt already. im hoping to get in because one sister just graduated and one is a sophmore.
