i had a 3.1 and 1260 sat but now that im in VT i have a 2.0 and heading towards year 5. skiing and bars will do that to you.

if u think you dont have the grades for uvm you can also apply to champlain i hear thats easier to get into and its in the same area

if you don't have a GPA above 2.5 then you really don't belong at a college higher than community college. Honestly UVM is very very easy to get into if you're not a complete idiot

 
It's funny because here in VT, UVM is like a last resort, fallback school, as it is very inxpensive and considerd to be a decent school. However to go to UVM out of state it is mad expensive and it just seems weird that so many people think highly of UVM when many kids in VT don't.

for out of staters UVM is a good school. need at least an 1100/1200 SAT and a good GPA. for in staters most people can get in.

Yeah, UVM is last resort for most Vermonters. It is a decent school though,but because VT is so small it's just a bit too close to home for many of us. But as I said, for a state school, it is very good.

st.mikes is easier to get into than uvm. its just for kids whose parents dont want them to have a good time at college.

uvm is getting harder to get into, they have had record applications the last 3 years. i just graduated from there and loved it. not too difficult, but has a good rep. and lots of fun shit between the mountains and the bars/partys/montreal

 
UVM I hear for out of staters is tough, which sucks cause for in state it is pretty much the back up plan. As for grades in state I had a 3.4 when I was in high school a few years ago and only got a 870 on the SAT's, so that gives you an idea of how easy it is for in state. Its a chill school and area, but when you live in the next town over, the area gets old pretty fast. Champlain is a lot easier to get into and is a decent school, got buddies that go there. Either way the area is cool and close to Sugarbush, Smuggs, Mad River, Stowe, Bolton (lame), and Jay is about 2 hours or a little less. Good luck with college man, it sucks.

Some people do test REALLY badly.... I know someone who got a 700 on the SAT's, and still got into college. I just stared at her when she told me what she got, as she's really not that stupid, just tests badly.

St. Mikes has it's perks, but you will pay a ton more to go there and you can't live off campus... ever. I would def want to go to groovy uvy if i didn't grow up here. but i did... so i'll be in utah

penn state is the same way in PA. you get in with like a 1.5 gpa. i got accepted to UVM with a 3.1 GPA and a 1090 SAT. it seemed like a sweet school but i ended up goin to UNH and gettin kicked out for a year cuz of my 0.75 GPA

What are you talkin about? PSU main is pretty hard, You usually need at least a 3.0 or higher and an 1100 sats. If you talkin about psu hazleton, scranton , wilkes barre, and all of those one then its easy. But PSU is a pretty hard school for anyone.

hahaha The schools give out "odor violations" instead of smoking violations if you smoke in your rooms. VT isn't called the GREEN mtn. state for nothing
 
yea my cousin had to go to summer classes to go there and shes an instater. she had like a 3.7 or somethin like that and did do so hot on her SAT's
 
i was sayin that a lot of people in PA us PSU as a last resort. at least thats how my high school was. except main campus that shits impossible.
 
Comming from a Vermonter...UVM is known for it's dope-smoking. ;) Haven't you seen their April 20th shindigs? They're allowed to go into a park with only pot and smoke as much as they want. If they have anything else, it gets confiscated. Police videotape, but they never do anything about it.

UVM is decent, but not as good as other NE schools. Probably one of the better schools near the mountains though, save for Middlebury and Dartmouth.
 
Very true. Middlebury and Dartmouth are for the preppy kids. UVM is, well, for the not-so. If you're looking to come to VT, make sure you look at those aspects...they're VERY distinct.

It doesn't matter if you're preppy or not. It depends on what school you like better, and if the preppy aspect is one of the aspects that you care about alot, than so be it.
 
Nah, at a school of 30k, there's room for everyone. You might just have to look a little harder for people that suit you.
