UTAH VS COLORADO

^true, but I went to utah in febuary and it was still kick ass. 1000000 times better than east coast. I've only been to utah, but my dad has been to both utah and colorado and he likes utah more. the snow is lighter because it has just come off the desert or whatnot.

Utah is sick. Alta is a skiers heaven. Very little can compair in Colorado. Park Citys park is also pretty nice. I would say, quality:Utah, Quantity:Colorado.

Utah has the snow, but Colorado has tons of mountains (Vail, Breck, COpper, Winter Park, Steamboat, Telluride, Aspen, Snowmass, Beaver Creek, Keystone, and more) and better parks

I live in CO and go to UT whenever I have the chance. That should say it. CO is popular because most skiers ski blue groomers, and that's really all we have here. The terrain is so much sicker in UT, and there is generally more, lighter snow in UT.

CO, we have sick parks here, and when we get fresh pow, its light and perfect. so nice

I went to both of those valleys in Utah and Park city, and skied a bunch of resorts in Colordado. Utah is sick but Colorado would win my heart anyday. Utah so... mormanish. Vail, Break, not keystone, copper are all sweet. no nevermind utahs better.

alta and snowbird have sick terrain, and park city had a sick park last year and they spent 3 million more on it this year because they want to be as big as mammoth as far as teh park goes

'CO is popular because most skiers ski blue groomers, and that's really all we have here' - are you absolutely shitting me? you obviously have never been to steamboat on a 2 foot powder day....close to better than sex and def. better than utah

3 million more on the terrian parks in park city eh?? Damn because I went there not last year but the year before and the terrian parks blew ass, Michigan parks were better at the time.

umm... i would say that we have a tad bit more than just blue groomers. i.e. silverton, mary jane/vasquez cirque, backbowls at copper, keystone, vail, steamboat, crested butte, aspen, telluride, wolf creek, beaver creek, monarch, loveland(or at least some of it) and then if you have enough experience you can ride loveland pass, berthoud pass, vail pass, and if you want even more of a reason why you should come to colorado, check out the new freeskier, www.coloradoski.com, any of the websites for the listed resorts above, or you can come over here and check out how rad it is for yourself

'never been to steamboat on a 2 foot powder day' On the contrary, I have. Sure they get tons of snow, and sure some of the terrain is good for a little while. The same with all of the places westbum mentioned. The issue is the SHORTNESS of the vertical. Not necessarily a problem with Silverton and Crested Butte, but Summit County, yes, that's a problem. Utah has long sustained steep runs. They even dump you back out at the bototm of the lift instead of at the top of a long flat traverse.

Westbum also mentioned the backcountry. A majority of the populaiton does not have the knowledge or experience to ski the backcountry. Most people aren't willing to fork over the money to take the classes and buy the equipment to do it safely.

An issue I would like to bring up is crowds. Colorado is fuckin' crowded. I lived in and skied Utah during the winter of 2001-2002, when the Olympics were there. It wasn't nearly as bad at the peak of the Olympics as Colorado is on any given weekend. Given, I skied Snowbasin on the weekends and only skied at Alta and the other more popular resorts during the week. But I've had to stand in half hour liftlines in CO in the middle of the week in the 'off' season.

yeah P-Jo...park city spent 2 million on their park last year...and another 3 million on their park this year

if you wait in a lift line for an hour anywhere, you should be shot (that's a 6th of your skiing day here) esp. if you're not from Texas or the east coast. especially, especially when you need to be hiking to get to the good stuff anyway...i.e. NO LIFTS!

you guys just made me very happy. I just arrive to salt lake this mourning ( i moved here for the year ) and Uhh im from west virginia (skiing sucks) and i've skied in colorado, went on a big road trip at the end of the season hit (winterpark, copper, A-basin) and it was the shit the skiing was awesome the snow was great, the weather was great, people were nice, parks were phat everything was good) I've never skied utah in the winter and if its AS good as colorado im already wet.

Utah is full of a bunch of fags. In colorado you can ski pretty much the same terrain, and you don't have to deal with mormons. But yeah go to fucking Utah see if anyone cares.

Have you ever been hit by a Uhaul?

yeah i dont know what mormons are like, but in colorado u have to deal with trustafarians I hate those fucking kids

Utah is full of fags but if you get up to park city you can get away from most of the fags and mormons. also if you know where to go PC can have nice backcountry on powder days. peace

colorado

the mormons really aren't that bad--the skiing is worth it. i've never skied colorado, but i looove utah. i'm there every weekend for the skiing. they have everything. if you want powder: alta, snowbird, or even brighton. if you want parks: park city. if you want bumps (which you prolly dont but i'm a freestyler so i do): go to deer valley. besides, if you ski on sundays you don't have to worry about the mormons.
