Utah tips

Heading to SLC airport and then have 2 solo days before my homies join me. Looking for advice on best place to ski and stay. On skiing, looking for the true skiers resort and hitting the goods (like Whitewater in Nelson, BC). Open to touring and/cat skiing if its worth it.

Any tips would be super helpful.

I was just in Utah for about a week. Best idea for lodging would be to get an Airbnb in salt lake. Its way cheaper than a lodge at any resort. Also, u could rent a car or use the public transport which is really good in Salt lake. U could probably just ask if anyone is down to carpool on ns.I'm sure someone would respond. You're gonna be there during Christmas week so anywhere is gonna be packed but, u should def stay away from Park City as that is the most packed. Unless you really wanna ski the park. I would recommend powder mountain as it is usually empty and there is cat skiing If you are looking to do that. It's super local and not touristy. You can find powder weeks after snow. Alta is sick but more crowded and gets tracked up quick. All in all though it should be super fun.

Have fun, its kinda busy but today was pretty sweet and a nice lil refresher.

If youre skiing LCC/BCC, i suggest carpooling or taking the ski bus up if you dont wanna spend much on gas. Parking can be pretty bad this time of year and especially of course when it dumps. They also enact strict snow tire law restrictions when it snows so hopefully you get a car thats equipped. Lodging at the resorts is obnoxious but theres hotels in the valley near cottonwood heights that are pretty reasonable and give skiers deals.

Other than that, its pretty fun rn. Most places are fully open so we're just waiting on more storms.

Oh and and AirBnB near the canyon mouths or near the freeway. Maybe even near downtown if you wanna go rip it up one night in SLC.

Great advice here!

Powder Mountain is still kind of a hidden little gem.

In SLC I most enjoy skiing at Alta and Snowbasin. When I’m alone I usually just get an Airbnb and take public transport to ski. If you choose to rent a car, driving to the ski resorts is easy-peasy. Alta also has a some options for ski-in ski-out which are always appreciated.
